The House of Pies, LLC, is a family owned and operated pie shop in Northern Michigan. We are the only pie shop using hand rolled crust and local fruit. specializing in fruit and cream pies.
In our bakery, we offer 20 different kinds of cookies, brownies, danish, breads, and much more.

Good selection of pies, though I wish they had savory choices. Staff very friendly. Both traditional and crumb toppings on most pies. Even refrigerated pies available. Not earth shattering taste, but very, very good.

Pies are very good but the location, selection and over all atmosphere causes me to pass it by. The store has great potential but needs attention. The atmosphere and lack of selection is the reason for only 3 stars. A makeover would greatly improve this business.

2017 = Lard in pie crust is so backward and that is what this place uses. Now that there is one place in the northland that makes crusts with butter, I no longer have to put up with yucky lard film in the mouth in order to enjoy a store-bought pie. That I know of, only Harwoods in Charlevoix make their pies with butter and not lard for the crusts. Delicious. New favorite after decades. 2016 = One of the best ever pie shops. Go early to get the best selection. Have been going for years.

In response to Eric Anderson's review...we do not nor have we ever used lard in our pie crust. The recipe is the same as my mother has been making for 60 years, with no changes. You should have called for a refund if you were unhappy with your pie.

We're picking up the 3rd pie in 3 days. Only ever had the best pies in the World.
