Horning & Horning

After the death of our tax preparer, my husband and I were sent a letter stating that Horning and Horning would be available to take on our taxes. Without having any knowledge of their business, we decided to go with H&H. We were absolutely shocked that our tax appointment took less than 10 mins. They didn’t ask questions and we tried to give them as much information that we could think of. The appointment felt rushed and very impersonal. We never heard a word from them, until one day we noticed our tax refund had been automatically deposited into our account. They had somehow submitted our taxes without us signing for them. When we called to ask them about it, they made it seem like they had done us a favor and that a bill would be coming out way (Yes, the bill showed up and it was outrageous). My husband and I really questioned our tax return, as we thought we’d be getting more back, so we had H&R Block review them. H&R Block had many questions and found multiple red flags. They asked us for our depreciation schedule, (as there were many areas of concern as to where they pulled numbers from) and we then realized it wasn’t included with the personal files we had received from Horning and Horning. We called multiple times to get a copy of the depreciation schedule and never was one provided. This year, while doing our taxes, the preparer asked for a depreciation schedule and again we called Horning and Horning. They were extremely rude on the phone and kept claiming they gave us the schedule, we asked if they could explain to us where they came up with certain numbers and they became very defensive. My husband called back today and by chance talked to a lady that found exactly what we were looking for and said she would mail us the papers. Hopefully we’ll receive them. After this ordeal, we’ve talked to other customers who have claimed similar service. They too, were directed to Horning and Horning after the death of their previous tax preparer and they too, had horror stories. They also mentioned that they received their tax refund without ever signed their taxes. I would never recommend this company. They are rude, impersonal, and overpriced.
