Relaxing and quick, the Hometown Cafe pleases the hungry appetite. I had the turkey pannini - although it was good, it wasn't as good as the chicken wrap that a member of our family tried. There's a wide selection of lemonade and iced teas to accompany your meal and the Ranger Cookie has great flavor and can be shared by two people.
The food was yummy, and the service was great. The waitress and waiter seemed to work as a team. The only throwback that i had was they didn’t remove the empty plates off our table. I wish they did so that i could have more room on the table. Other then that it was a relaxing place the staff were friendly. There’s a saying i have, the difference between great and excellent is a little bit more…
Cozy little cafe in downtown Sumner. Staff was very friendly and very attentive. We ordered our breakfast and it came out within about 8 to 10 minutes. I ordered the Farmers Hash. It was very good lots of potatoes and eggs. There really wasn’t as much bacon, sausage and ham as I was expecting, but it was still a great breakfast. I recommend this cafe!
I always cook Thanksgiving dinner from scratch for my family, but this year I’m pregnant and feeling all-day-sickness, vomiting, etc. So I decided to order food and this place had good reviews. I’m actually sad to write this review, but I have to be honest: nobody liked the food. Presentation was bad, stuffing was not good at all looked like dog food, canned green beans instead of fresh. We had high hopes, but I guess we’re way too spoiled by my homemade food. I make fresh green beans from scratch, they have vibrant colors and crunchy texture. My classic stuffing is to dye for, full of flavor. I’m so disappointed, it kinda ruined our Thanksgiving dinner. Oh well, by Christmas I’ll be feeling better and will be able to cook for my family all the delicious food they love!
My husband and I visited the hometown charm cafe this Sunday morning and were seated after a short 15 minute wait. Our servers were friendly and my iced tea was lovely. We both ordered the steak and eggs with hash browns and pancakes. Our food came out in less than ten minutes and was delicious. Overall, fast seating, friendly service, and cute atmosphere. Would eat here again.
What a great local eatery! Met a friend for brunch and while it was busy it was not crowded and things moved quickly. We took a bit of time at our table but there was always a table or two open so I didn't feel like we overspent our time there. It was neat to watch the pleasant interaction of the staff with the guests, all had a smile and a kind word. Oh, and the food was great too! I decided on the biscuits and gravy breakfast with scrambled eggs and ham slice. It was a sufficient portion for the pricing, even a bit more than needed but certainly nice to be able to leave a little behind than to still feel hungry afterwards. Would definitely go back.
One of my friends recommended that we try Hometown Charm Cafe for a brunch date. I arrived in a group of 5 around 12:30 PM on a Sunday and it was a 40 minute wait. It's layout and decor is quaint. It's in an older building, and immediately upon entering is a snug waiting area that is separated from the rest of the restaurant by walls, a small booth with a staff member taking calls, and a small staircase leading upstairs. Just behind this is a mini bar and then an open view into the kitchen. It was completely packed with people sardined on a vintage couch and groups waiting outside. The hostess was busily taking calls and managing an old fashioned pen and paper list for reservations and the waitlist. My group of 5 was seated by the large bay windows on the main floor. I wish I had explored what was upstairs. The bathrooms in the back were tucked near the broom closet. The menu is fairly short but there was lots of freedom to customize your meal. The prices are kind of high for a diner. My table ordered the cinnamon rolls, the southwestern omelet, the Big Chicken chicken fried steak meals, and the special of the day French toast breakfast. The cinnamon roll was the star of the show. It was huge. It was well made and hard not to swallow whole. I would go back for the cinnamon roll alone. The French toast was made of regular sliced bread and topped with partially frozen strawberries instead of fresh ones. Most of the signature meals use size/quantity as their main hosting feature. So if you know what you like and want a lot of it, this is the place to go. Also, they had some impressively thick bacon, which is hard to come by at diners. The staff were all super friendly and quick to get back to us. Staff members were immediate to acknowledge us when we stepped in and even quicker to have us brought waters and served. I was nervous that arriving at 12:30 and then being seated within an hour of their close would be inconvenient to staff, but no one expressed annoyance or rushed us out. Overall, this location is a super safe bet for breakfast. It is down to earth but with lots of personality. It feels like a fun excursion but you don't need to be in your Sunday's finest here.
I normally love this place my husband got breakfast for takeout and it was awful! He has asked for a side of bacon and got one piece. My eggs were supposed to be over easy I would have settled for over medium but at this point they were almost a hard boiled egg. My gf pancakes were cold in the middle and had little pieces of onion on them. Not sure what happened here. I guess don’t get take out only dine in!
We are trying to find hidden local gems for places to eat and not just the big chains, to support COVID impacted staffing. Found an interesting one! Cute place, nice staff, good food. Get there early, closes at 2pm weekdays, 3pm weekends Fri-Sun Smaller menu right now, but a number of good choices. Sidewalk seating if you want it. Wife said pancakes were really good. Hobo hash full was a lot of goodness!
Staff was very friendly. There is limited seating so depending on when you go there could be a wait. I ordered the crab cake benedict, which I wouldn’t recommend - the cakes are frozen not fresh and had very little flavor. The country potatoes were nice and crispy with great flavor. Please BEWARE of a card transaction fee - the day I went they were working on a new POS system that did not advise customers of a service fee for using a card to pay. Hopefully they figure out a way to warn people. There is no need to sneak in additional fees in this economy.
