The mission of the Homer Watson House & Gallery is to preserve and celebrate the legacy of Homer Watson's creative spirit by stimulating the appreciation, enjoyment and practice of the visual arts.
Homer Watson House & Gallery is the homestead of Homer Ransford Watson, Canada's first noted landscape artist (1855-1936). In 1980, his house and surrounding 3 acre property were designated under the Ontario Heritage Act as being of architectural and historic significance. Our mission is to preserve and celebrate the legacy of Homer Watson's creative spirit by stimulating the appreciation, enjoyment and practice of the visual arts.
We engage the community through curriculum-based visual arts programs, exhibitions, maintaining and displaying Watson's permanent collection, special events, and other endeavours. For more information about what's going on at the Gallery, visit www.homerwatson.on.ca
