First time visiting this small downtown pub. We went between meal times and the place was quiet with maybe 2 other tables in use. The beer Kilkenny was good, though quite expensive at $8.50 a pint. The meals were a little variable. I had fish and chips. The chips were very good. The fish was very dark and the batter brittle, like it had been over fried, or twice fried. There was a smattering of coleslaw on the side as well. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich with fries. She said it was ok, but nothing special. The other meal was a poutine and it was a decent size and the gravy was good. For the 3 of us with. 2.5 pints of beer and a large wine + the meals, it $93 + tip. The service was ok. There was just one person running the front at the time we went, but he was reasonably attentive in that small space. Overall I was hoping for a bit better on the food front, and maybe a better deal on the beer in a small family run place.
First time coming to the hog N' penny, came to watch my friend Ryan play some live music. I ordered the Chicken club, amazing food and excellent service. I will definitely be back again!
A classic pub. Good food, good service, and a great atmosphere. Not busy and a great place to have a meal with friends or family. A hidden gem.

Great place for a Speciality Draft and bottle beers. Has a very traditional Pub feeling. Great staff and always has a great group of ppl there on their off time. Has the true look of a Irish/Scottish Pub House. Great Pub foods. Beef & Barley soup is my favorite. Have great time!!
Absolute must visit for fans of British pubs and foodies! Great beer and the food is unreal. The pub is small and unassuming but very authentic and reminiscent of a small village watering hole.
I mean....they have Old Speckled Hen. Do you know many places that do around here? Also - atmosphere put the yazoo. Wild. I felt like I was in England having lived there!
My favourite place to hang out with my laptop and write during visits to Orillia! Brilliant location near to the lake for summer travellers; but doesn't have the same corporate "chain" feel as some of the other establishments. Fantastic happy hour specials and the staff make an effort to know and remember you---even after months and months between visits.
Boring. Tiny little pub with confusing decor- mix of Scottish and British yard sale looking items - seats maybe 40 not including the bar stools which were in bad shape. Items that were supposedly on offer were unavailable We ordered a couple of pints and the Feta Bruschetta which we didn't enjoy and didn't finish; warm bruschetta mix on too thick and insufficiently toasted baguette which of course became mushy. Not likely to visit again
Good selection of draught beer. Cozy atmosphere. Nice place to met for a drink.
