We spent nearly 3 hours here, I tried a few different drinks, all were awesome. The bartender was lovely, she seemed to enjoy her job which made our experience fun. Hubby very much enjoyed the absinthe, and we both enjoyed the store! Must see in Toronto!
A few months ago I stumbled upon Hocus Pocus, from the outside it doesn't look like anything special. Boy was I wrong!! The the minute you step into the witchery and Lounge you're taken to a magical place. Once you walk through the front door, you are immediately welcomed by one of the employees who work there. You say "Hi" and then on your right hand side as you walk in you notice a large glass showcase. In the showcase you'll see so many crystals, herbs, oils and other magical item. A favorite of mine is a black salt, although not always there as it sells so pretty quickly. You then step in to the main area of bar that has a wall full of candles, glassware and other cool nick-nacks. You take a seat at the bar, and you are welcomed by the most amazing bartender. She will hand you a menu and will explain the whole menu to you. She will tell you her nameElectra, and ask you your name if not busy. She'll ask you if you like a certain type of alcohol and then she will show you something that you would like. Once you picked out the drink you would like she will go behind the bar and start mixing the drink together. You will then see her grab a large beaker/test tube, which are used in laboratories and pour in the drink. The best part is that in the bottom of the glass is a little piece of dry ice, that as soon as liquid touches it starts to vaporize and boils overkind of not really. The bartender will inform you, that you need to drink it out of the straws. As soon as you take a sip you will absolutely love it!! You will take a few more sips then you will want to take a look around at the back of the store. You will notice a lot of Witchcraft and wiccan items, you will see tarot cards right after the bar. In the back of the store you will notice potions, spell-bombs and other items made by The High Priest Otto Wolf and the high priestess Star Wolf. Be careful.....they really work!! After looking at all the items at the back of the store, you'll be thirsty and want a few more drinks. After you've had your fun you will go home wanting to come back again and again. I guarantee you, that this place will become your next Hangout spot. If you get a chance, say hi to the owners of Hocus Pocus; Star and Otto Wolf. You made even be able to get a reading from them. Overall this place is awesome, I have nothing negative to say. I can truly say that this is one of Toronto best hidden gems!!!
The beautiful and quaint bar is amazing. The drink selection is anything but lacking and the staff is so sweet and kind. They also can give recommendations for your taste palette. The drinks are served in different kinds of glassware and they are willing to serve your drink in any kind of glass you want as well. They have a TV and play Harry Potter movies most of the time. Otherwise, they do play some interesting music. There doesn't seem to be any food or snacks served here though. Oh, and pay either with cash or with a credit/debit card that can tap!!
The owners of this establishment took photos that were taken of a friend of mine, slapped a filter on them and then proceeded to try and sell them as prints with his own signature. On top of that they did not own up to their actions and actually gave a sneering metaphorical middle finger to those that called them out as you can see in this screen shot and then deleted the negative Facebook reviews that were given in réponse. Absolutely no accountability, I find the lack of respect to the original artists extremely distasteful and deplorable.
Very personable staff. The glassware was phenomenal and really added to the ambiance. Sadly due to the neighborhood, they don't allow you to open a tab and that means multiple swipes of the debit card. The absinthe based beverages are an anomaly in the bar scene and I do recommend you try at least one if you haven't sampled it before. The staff was sure to explain where they sourced their high quality from and made it that much more exciting to try something new
I absolutely loved their drinks and the intriguing atmosphere! Witches do it better
The most amazing atmosphere with great employees! Won't be my last time that's for sure. I got the Grimm Reaper skull beverage & the Hocus Pocus drink and they even had pretty edible glitter that shined under our phone light making it an even cooler experience. The bartender also had a snake which she allowed me to touch and it was so surreal honestly. There is nothing boring about this place, if you want an exciting night out this is it.
This place is really cool! They've got really fun drinks, very reasonable prices, and their aesthetic is spot on. They also have friendly and helpful staff as well. Aesthetic might not be for everyone and the space can get very crowded very quickly. If you're curious and in the area it's definitely worth your time and trouble.
I came in last Saturday as it seemed like a fun spot for a cocktail. The bartender was amazing and my drinks were decent. My only complaint was the lack of heat. The place was freezing cold and should have been addressed before opening to the public.
This was such an amazing experience! The staff taught me a lot of cool information, the presentation was unreal and the selection was so fun and unique. The fact that they serve drinks with dry ice so that it makes the cup look like a cauldron of sorts is a reason to go in itself. They're truly an authentic group of people and have been recommending this place to everyone since I left.
