Friendly people, huge selection and okay prices with one glaring issue - the abysmal return policy. This place benefits from buying and selling broken items. If you're a customer and you purchase something and it doesn't work, you can only return it for store credit. At a place that sells used items that are often difficult to test, that's pretty unacceptable. This single handedly makes buying anything even remotely expensive here an enormous risk. Again decent place - just know that if you're about to drop $700 on a PC or VR headset or whatever else and something is broken, you're forfeiting your $700 to this place with no way to get it back.
Been ripped off selling items at this store. They sold me around a thousand dollars worth of games and then after I suffered a break in where the thieves stole my console, I sold the games back. For 65 games marked between 5 dollars and 50 dollars each they gave me 65 dollars. Even for the games that they sold me for 50, they would only give me one dollar. And for the record, ps3 games are still sold at these prices, the statement from the owner that games are sold at 1 or 2 dollars is false. I was in the store recently to look at games and decided not to spend anything when I saw the prices.
I have been going to this place weekly to specifically purchase movies for the better half of a year. My experiences have also been pleasant. All the staff are super nice and welcoming. One person in specific named Sebastian is pretty solid. He is extremely knowledgeable with the genre I favor and really is a big part of why I keep coming back. He makes excellent recommendations. I have purchased hundreds of movies from them and there prices are fair. There is another person there who is female and im not sure her name, my kiddo talks to her about her bracelet all the time. She is super awesome as well!!!! I totally rank this place 5 stars.
Bought a Ps4 controller & $400 tv from them, both broken. Was obviously a refurbished ps4 controller as it had insane stick drift, and when you clicked the right joystick too hard it would turn off mid game. TV Overheats within a hour of having it on and the screen starts to get weird green pixelated melting effects all over it, and often doesn’t connect to the wifi resulting in no apps working. One of the employees was insanely rude to my MIL, Treating her like a child for not knowing how to operate a smart tv. super Unprofessional. Don’t recommend coming here.
As a regular customer, I am always greeted by name, and greet the staff by name. I am always helped with the utmost level or professionalism but am interacted with like a friend. Whether or not I make a purchase, all staff members are awesome to shoot the bull with for a few minutes before I leave. Prices are more than fair, awesome deals regularly, never had any issues with any product Ive purchased there. All around awesome place and awesome people.
Thank you Hock Shop, found a chain saw I was looking for from a friend that noticed it on your shelf. They are old and heavy but cut very well. I had to clean and adjust the carburetor and properly sharpen the chain but it now runs and idles like a champ!
I find this place very unprofessional. I went in with my brother to retrieve his Bike from holding and after I had already paid the gentleman whom helped us said that he couldn't get it. He than proceeded to say that it was to far back in the storage and he could get it tomorrow because it was close to closing now and he had to get out of work. When you are running a business's sometimes you stay late. I'm from out of town and came down for my brother's birthday and to get him his bike back. My brother doesn't drive. He will now be getting his bike when I am gone and have to ride in dangerous conditions. Very disappointing!
Have never had a decent experience there, there pricing change minute by minute and I always feel like they are doing me a favor by allowing me in the store. Overpriced everything not friendly staff, no logic or reason applied to their pricing and I will not be using that store ever again no recommendations and I'll share my experience with anyone that asks.
Best pawn shop in town and it's not even close. They have excellent customer service, great prices, and a wide variety of items for sale. Every time I walk in the store I'm greeted by name and treated like I'm an important customer even though I don't spend a lot of money. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, but not pushy or in your face. Always someone there to help me when I have a question. Not too long ago I was having some financial problems. Andrew in purchasing helped me secure a small loan that cured my short term cash flow problems, but didn't put me so far behind that I would risk losing my items that I had hocked. He was very professional and fair, and really went out of his way to make sure that I got a good deal. I really can't say enough good things about this place. Whether you're buying, selling or looking for a loan, this is the place to go in North Bay. I had such a good experience there today that I felt compelled to write up my first Google review. Thank you everyone at the Hock Exchange.
100 % bought a stolen phone from this place and they refused to take it back! it was black listed as you say on the shelf before i bought it, but i get stuck with it because you say the receipt says can't be returned , no doubt it says that cause ya buy and sell so many stolen phone's ya protect ya self's from loosing money, so make the customer suffer. thanks for the business!, not! You'll never get business from me, my family and friends again. Buyers beware buying from this business! Have a nice day!
