I was extremely fortunate to go to the Vancouver Dermatologic Surgery Centre in December 2022 and receive surgical treatment for cancer of the penile glans. From the moment I stepped into Dr. K's clinic it was very evident that communication, patient care and surgical expertise were being provided at a gold standard. Communication between myself and Dr. K's office staff was exceptional I cant thank you enough Sinead. Dr. K's nursing staff the day of my surgery Jennifer and Reyna were exemplary. Dr. Fournier who was assisting with my surgery was very professional, an excellent communicator and surgically gifted. Dr Kossintseva herself is a truly gifted surgeon that personifies how medical care should be defined. I worked in health care for close to 40 years myself. I feel forever blessed that I was referred to such a wonderful surgical centre.
I’ve seen Dr Vincent Ho for a number of issues. His explanations are thorough and recommendation honest. It wasn’t what I wanted to hear but I followed his advice.
Dr Angela Burleigh and nurse Anna gave me very personal and attentive care. They explained every step of the procedure and listened to my questions. This was important to me as I was not accompanied.
Dr Kalia is really good, patient, kind, and thorough, and all of the receptionists are very kind : Hard to get an appointment tho, about a month or two wait but it's worth it, good to book in advance!
Please avoid Dr Kunimoto. I had a visit with him today after 3 months of waiting and i wish I’ve read the reviews first before i saw him. He didn’t listen to me and my concerns and didn’t give me hardly any eye contact and he was too busy on his keyboard probably writing a report so that he can get paid for my visit today. Very bad experience never go back to see him again. I feel very undervalued and has made me feel depressed.
Absolutely awful place to go. I've seen several dermatologists here, and every time it's the same. Wait for over an hour, have their students do all the work, then the dr comes in for 5min to quickly give you a diagnosis while giving you attitude and being dismissive of your concerns and offering nothing more useful than what a google search could get you. Dr Shapiro when he still worked here, Zhou, and Ho respectively get 0/5, 0/5, 2/5. The last one I visited being Dr Zhou, where even after repeatedly telling him I already tried the treatment he suggested and it didn't work, just kept repeating over and over again that was the typical treatment he offered and there's nothing else he can do. Then when asked a question, he answers with a question of his own! All the derms here just dogmatically talk AT you. Beyond frustrating and completely unhelpful. Don't go here, unless you like waiting for many months just to waste 1 more hour to be disappointed.
The Skin Care Center is part of VGHospital, I see Dr.Dutz he is a dermatologist and a rheumatologist and he did fixed my problem right away. The place is very clean and cold in athmosphere. One doctor I saw previously could not fix the problem as he is not a rheumatologist as well.
Was referred to Dr. Ho by my family doctor for eczema. My appointment was at 8:30am, I checked in and was brought to an exam room ~5 minutes later. You need to buzz in to be let into the building. A resident, Dr. O’Connor, came in after about 10 minutes of waiting. She asked questions about my medical history, did a body exam and Dr.Ho then came in to take a look. I saw Dr. Ho for maybe 5 minutes max but he was knowledgeable and cordial. The resident handled the prescriptions and was very informative! The receptionists were nice enough and definitely not rude. Hopefully my next appointment is just as nice! There is underground parking available.
Seeing Dr. Zhou was a terrible experience. First of all, I waited 5 months for a dermatologist appointment. When the time comes, I arrive 20 mins early to my appointment but the doctor was 45 mins late. The receptionist did not mention that he was running behind upon check-in. When I went to the appointment, there was a residential doctor and student who examined me first and they were quite nice, super helpful, and very informative. However, when Dr Zhou stepped into the room, he was very dismissive and didn't answer any of my additional questions. He was in and out in about 3 mins. I wasted 5 months of waiting and now have to go back to my GP to see another dermatologist. Avoid this office if you have a choice!
Met with Doctor Vincent Ho for mole removal. I gotta say this experience starting from consultation to treatment was just terrible. The consultation fee of $90 was not worth paid towards the treatment fee. it was 5 minutes of assessing the mole and telling me the strict price of doing laser is $180 for 10 no matter the size For the big ones he says he has to do them several times which makes sense. Bargaining wont help, he sets the price. His treatment style is just disappointing. The laser process, he just lasers a bit of the mole for few seconds, very small pain. Worse part is that there is no ointment given before or even after the laser treatment. For treatment price like that you would at least expect ointment and tips for aftercare. He literally tells me "dont need to put anything on, just dont let it get wet" Sounded like a kid's advice. The 1st round of treatment was honestly ok and thats because I had ointment + cream to put on after every shower. Most of the shallow ones have fainted, but some of the small black moles could be seen which is unacceptable. The big ones only shrunk a bit in size which is fair. I totally understand his money making strategy, he uses fairly light laser technique making you come back for followup appointments. I just went back for followup appointment today, the 1st thing he said was "interested in treatment again okay?" Instead of checking out the moles he had treated to see how its recovering, he just wants my business. This shows to me how greedy of a man he is. I was not interested at all and left. In summary: There are better choices of doctors/clinics to go to. You will find better doctors who can take better care of you. Doctor Vincent Ho is overpriced, greedy for $, not worth. I really hope he sees this and realize what he needs to do better.
