I graduated from here in 2011. Although I am not from an "affluent" family by any means (a child of a hard-working lower-middle-class immigrant family, actually), I still found this school and its staff to be very accomodating and supportive. The teachers and faculty are true professionals, committed to and passionate about their jobs. I really felt that as long as I put in the prescribed amount of time and effort, I would succeed - and I did. It is one of the best schools in the state, and this could be felt through the heightened expectations of their students. And while this school could definitely get much better (such as by decreasing their excessive funding of the athletic program and diverting some of that funding to further improve academics), it's already much better than average. I'm proud to be a Red Devil.

Hinsdale Central 86 school district told us it wasn't a good enough reason and actually illegal to register to their school just because a child moved from out of state that was having a serious issues with their parent and it was causing problems in the child's schooling. So it was decided for her to move here away from a toxic environment so that she can succeed in her education. Please tell me how that isn't good enough and illegal? The child lives in their district with their temporary guardian who lives in the district and proved residency. Temporary guardianship has been notarized by all parties involved and was provided to the school. How Can a public school deny a child to go their school just because they do not like their reason of why they moved from their parents home? Under the Students In Temporary Living Situations Act, schools cannot deny a student's enrollment nor does that student have to provide personal information as to why he/she is in a temporary living situation. Bill Walsh, Assistant Principal, at Hinsdale Central actually said they were taking advantage of tax payers money. We pay taxes. We live in the district. He was very unprofessional and prejudicial based on external appearances. We do not need to divulge the reason why the child is not living with the parent. It's our legal right. This is not the first time he has ostracized a person or the parent when the child doesn't live with the parent. Him probing for personal issues in why the child doesn't live with parent is actually ILLEGAL.

I had a girlfriend. Than I went to HCHS! Others may boast about their rich educational experience, however I couldn't comply with accepting the fact that I had lost my true love because of some school that banned the use of performance enhancing drugs. Contrary to popular belief HCHS does NOT 'mind their p's and q's.' So next time one talks about this prison don't look at them in aww, but instead disbelief. Walk through the halls of HCHS with a sheer sense of scrutiny and disappointment as the place your elders described as paradise. Is simply non existent.
