"Family owned microbrewery and restaurant. Housed in a historic building and a former house of ill repute, this building has much of the original character. Dine in or carry out; family friendly; catering options available; reservations for parties of 10 or more with special event exceptions; call ahead seating if available."

We met friends here as a halfway point thinking it would be a good place for food, drink, and conversation. Expectations exceeded! Ended up being a highlight of our spring breaks! Axe throwing was so much fun thank you Charissa!, the beer was tasty, the food was fantastic, the service was top notch thanks Allison!, and we loved the vibe. Definitely recommend Hillsdale Brewing!
I had the Grallo and my husband had the Crazy Q. Sandwiches were enough for two meals. Potato chips were amazing. You could tell the building has a LOT of history behind it. Would’ve loved to see more of the history and writing about it with pictures on the walls or something. The old bank check out windows and vault is so neat!! We kind of walked all around and looked at everything. The ax throwing area and game room was closed but we could of had them open it up for us. Looks like on a Saturday night this place would be a lot of fun. Have to be 18 out older to throw the ax. My husband wanted to buy a hat or t-shirt but not many to choose from in his size. Our waitress was great. She checked up on us all the time. The bathrooms were really old and neat. The place was really neat. Handicapped accessible on the side of the building and handicapped accessible bathrooms. I ordered a hard cider that was good and my husband ordered a beer and he said it was ok. I can’t figure out which one it was. Their menu is different online than it is in the brewery.
Really enjoyed the axe throwing in the large game room. Food and drinks were very good as well, but watch out for the ghost peppers in the special grilled cheese sandwich!
This is a preliminary rating, once they get going I think I will have to change it to five stars. Food was good but they were sold out of several items, no avacados, missing all appetizers, kitchen closed early. I think I would send someone to Walmart to get ingredients before I would close down the kitchen at prime dinner time. Beer was good, all seemed to be low gravity for style which I appreciate because it really allows you to try all of the beer they offer. One beer, the Scotch ale was too low gravity in my opinion. It would have been better received by me as a Scottish ale but expecting the higher gravity wee heavy scotch ale I was disappointed. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit, nice atmosphere, good food, good beer, hits on all points, can't wait to stop back in a few weeks.
Great service. Our wait staff was friendly and prompt. Great food and beer. I had the peanut butter porter. We had a large group with a 1 year old and they made sure to bring his food out first. We always appreciate that. He gets grumpy when he's hungry. One of our favorite places.
We've never been ignored in a brewery more than this one. Brews were mediocre, as was the Sammie and appetizer. The worst part was the server. Slow to greet us. Slow to take our order. Slow to deliver drinks. Was nowhere to be found after we finished our meal and drinks. Walked by us twice . Third time I dropped one empty glass into another as she walked by. She looked over her shoulder, saw the empty glasses and empty food tray and kept walking. We wanted another beer but gave up, paid, and walked out. She had plenty of time to talk to the locals, though. Never again.
Love the Brewing Company... In a beautifully renovated historic build downtown. Nitro Cold Brew coffee is one of my favorite beverages, and there isn't one thing I've tried that doesn't make my mouth water to think about! They mix it up with inventive gourmet specials, including Saturday breakfast and Sunday brunch. Trivia on Tuesday nights is a fun way to have some fun with friends and strangers who become friends.
The brewing company is always our go to restaurant when visiting Hillsdale College! Great food and fun atmosphere!
This place is an amazing little hidden gem of hillsdale county. The staff is super friendly and always ready to go the extra mile to make the customers experience the best. The atmosphere is quaint and family friendly, including a kids corner and multiple games available, the ambient music is always great, the live music is phenomenal and the service is absolutely impeccable. The food is amazing, it's not your average pub or bar food, its elevated dining at a reasonable price, add to that the amazing craft beers, wines, and ciders and you cant pass up the opportunity to stop in. The building has an amazing history that the staff is pretty knowledgeable about and willing to explain to anyone that asks long as they have the time.
Every meal I’ve had has been delicious and the staff are so friendly and attentive!
