"The Hillcrest Cemetery Memorial Association HCMA was founded in 2001 to combine the resources of various groups and individuals who were working to preserve and maintain Hillcrest Cemetery. Nearly all labor except routine mowing has been performed by volunteers. Maintenance mowing is performed by contractors paid from funds donated to HCMA, mostly from families. We do not make any business income from cemetery operations. We have no paid employees and board members are not compensated for their service."

Hillcrest cemetery has been through a lot of issues. I have family there. I never understood why, if there were no funds from the cemetery to keep it up then why didn’t the city step in. Just my thoughts. I know with the volunteers working like they have things are beginning to turn around for the better. And the community, city and those that live in East Point should be made aware that these are all VOLUNTEERS they aren’t getting paid at all. Many of them live out of town now and come from all over to work for free.
My grandmother and uncle are buried here. Over the years this cemetery fell under the radar and became quite neglected. Now there is a thriving group of volunteers and donors who are making a huge impact bringing this cemetery back to it’s respectful status and honoring the individuals laid to rest here.
Really appreciate how the association keeps the grounds up with very little donations. I have family there and me and my brother spend as much time as we can cleaning up.
This cemetery has really improved in many ways over the years Both sets of my grandparents and other family are buried there It's cleaner and the grounds and lawn care are better maintained then previous years and the neighboring facilities are much improved
This non-profit does an excellent job of maintaining this historic cemetery where my parents and many of my beloved kin are buried. I am proud to support their effort and encourage others to do so as well.
Hillcrest is a historic goldmine of history. So interesting to walk the property and see graves dating back to the mid 1800's and the family plots that have a story to tell by the epitaphs.
Volunteers have made so much progress in helping clean up the cemetery. So thankful for those who give their time and effort.

I have volunteered with maintaining this abandoned cemetery property for 22 years now and while we have had our ups and downs, it’s much better than when we started.
All my family is buried there. So happy to see someone trying to help take care of the cemetery.
