The boulder field is EXTREMELY cool. I'd recommend the park based on that alone. However, there's also tons of great hiking. The rangers in the park office were very helpful. I'll definitely be back. This would be a 5-star review had the road to the lake not been so awful. It was the most (and deepest) potholes I have ever seen on one relatively short stretch of road. Drive CAREFULLY!! Also, one of the few parks I've been to that didn't have a real bathroom at the park office.

I've been here so many times throughout my life. The whole park is maintained and upkept very nicely. Rangers are nice and helpful. There's a lake with a pretty nice picnic area. A boulder field. Some waterfalls etc. The campground is plain awesome. It has multiple bathrooms, a playground, and huge open playing fields. I remember playing baseball in those wide fields. Excellent for kids to play. It also contains an amphitheater too. The trails are what really gets you hooked. The first thing you notice is the bountiful supply of trails. They're all beautiful and range from easy, intermediate, and hard. There also several other state parks located right next to Hickory Run. Lehigh Gorge State Park comes to mind being about minutes away. Just a great overall place to visit and embrace nature.

Very large park with many trails and unique features. Boulder Field is a must see and 2 of the most scenic trails are Shades of Death and Hawk Falls.

Love the park!... the lake... the hike.. the colorful trees... I jus wanna stay there all day!... come here n see it for urself!! U won't regret it!!...

Really nice for such a large park! Check in was smooth, sites and bathrooms were clean and we'll maintained. Some sites were right on top of the other, but ours had plenty of elbow room. Remember you cannot bring firewood from outside the area because of insect infestations. Many park neighbors hav bundles for sale cheaper than the park Camp Store. Good fire rings/grills at each site.
