Service: good! We were greeted coming in, offered water right away, and had the menu explained to us. Off-menu/seasonal items were explained to us right away. You can see the servers are very attentive; they’re always watching the customers to see if they need anything. Water and ginger automatically topped up when you’re running low. Rolls are served one at a time; the chef will make sure you’re done with your roll before preparing the next one. Food: not the best but not the worst. Then again, competition for seafood is high here. In a smaller town, this place would definitely be one of the best. The fish is cut up/mashed up and mixed with mayonnaise and other sauces. I didn’t know that going in, and it’s not how I prefer to eat raw fish. But that might be how others like it! Rice is not seasoned. Value is a bit on the high side. I would go again with friends. The experience was nice and the food was good enough.
I give the extra star for the service. While the service and ambience were really good, the food was not exceptional. It was definitely very good, but a wee bit lower than what you’d expect based on the service and the gratitude of the people working there. We ordered the 4-hand rolls set and all of the veggie rolls along with premium sake. As a first time eater of hand rolls, I felt like these fell short of my experience from traditional sushi, seasoning, and presentation. Overall a good place to have food, but should you should definitely go there for ambience and service.
Visited July 2, 2022. Location is located on Robson so it’s easy to get to from either bus or train. Location is set up like a bar, everyone sits around where they make the food. The chef makes the hand roll in-front of you, so you can see them making it and then they set it on a plate in front of you. If your looking for stuffing your face full of sushi at once. This may not be the place to visit. However to chat and enjoy some sushi it’s the perfect place. The food was delivered every 5-8 minutes per piece, as it was fairly busy. If your looking for something new to try. It’s definitely worth a try. It was super fresh and delicious. Overall rating: 4/5 stars
This was a delightful dining experience. The staff were lovely and attentive to our needs and adjusted to the speed at which we ate. The atmosphere was peaceful with a clean and simplistic interior. The hand rolls were delicious and the drinks complimented the food well. I would highly recommend this place for anyone that wants an authentic but lavish sushi experience that focuses on hand rolls.
The ambiance and decor was nice. Came here to try it out for a weekend lunch. I opted for the 5 hand roll set menu. It wasn't a great value, but the seaweed was crisp and ingredients tasted fresh. I would say it's a unique quick bite establishment but not ideal for a date or if you want to have a lengthy dining experience. Overall food was good but the value not so great. Would I come back? I would, but not anytime soon.
Hello Nori has become one of my favorite sushi places in Vancouver. The 4 rolls tasting menu is an amazing deal. The seafood is super fresh and they give one roll at a time giving you plenty of time to enjoy the food and socialize. The Mochi was also fantastic and such a great deal. Their included service charge is quite high but worth it!
Very Unique Experience! My friend & I came in on Canada Day! Greated/Seated right away & menu was explained After you order a bunch of rolls, they come 1 by 1, which is actually nice because it gives you time to taste, digest and experience the specific roll. Cleanse your palate with fresh ginger you don't have to.. right after the next roll arrives and enjoy All the rolls that I tried tasted good but my Favorite was the Scallop! 4 stars for food because it's hard to justify the price, 5 stars in total because the staff and experience is Amazing!! Definitely coming back!
Went to go try a newish restaurant with different concept, specializing in hand rolls on Robson Street. Close to the London Drugs. Place is small seating around the kitchen bar only. Restaurant is modern, decor very pleasing to the eye. Seating area not so great, kinda tight. Food was excellent. We ordered the 5 hand roll. You guessed it, you get 5 different hand rolls. And Set 2. The Set 2 is on their happy hour menu. Rolls are made in front of you. You can actually see how fresh the ingredients are. Be warned, they make the rolls one at a time and serve you one at a time. They won't bring out the next roll till you've finished the previous. We didn't know and was actually waiting for rest of the order before chowing down. We waited and they waited...can laugh about it now. Our server Gabriel, was great. He was friendly, funny and helpful with our order. Actually everyone was super friendly. Definitely a great experience!
This place has always caught my eye when walking by. The first thing you will notice is the cool decor/ space. When you sit down the staff is very informative and helps to explain the menu and their sushi style. The sushi is made right In front of you and comes out one at a time which means it is always fresh! I got the 4 roll combo which was great value at 21$.
I've been to Hello Nori to dine in and take out and had a wonderful experience both times. My dine in experience back in November was super tasty, with quick service and it was very cool to watch them making the hand rolls. Their timing was impeccable. Yesterday I ordered takeout through Ubereats as they had a buy 1 get 1 free deal on the spicy shrimp roll, and the packaging was incredible. Of course the rolls tasted fresh and great but it was really the tidy set up that was the most exciting part! Absolutely recommend for a unique dining experience.
