One of the few authentic Ukrainian restaurants in Canada. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. We had borscht, Ukrainian sausages, cheese/potato perogies, Chicken Schnitzels and Pork / Chicken Shashlik Kebabs. The borscht hit the key flavor profiles. Chicken and pork were extremely flavorful and tender. The sausages were succulent and smoky. My family and I really enjoyed our experience at the Heavenly Perogy!
Have been hearing so much about this place that I had to try it. I really wanted to say I loved it BUT honestly the portions were small for the price $50 with tax and tip for 2 lunch meals and both the schnitzels were a little on the dry side. Given all the hype not sure why the place was completely empty smack in the middle of lunch hour. I'm glad I finally tried it but will likely not be back.
Lovely restaurant hidden in the basement of a beautiful church. The staff were extremely humble and kind especially during the hard times right now. I really enjoyed their cheddar and onion perogies and their chicken schnitzel. Definitely worth trying!
I've ordered from here numerous times, both for delivery via Uber/DoorDash and dine-in. For dining in, you order at the front and pick your own seat at the tables they have out. I've ordered the schnitzel, cabbage rolls and perogies. I'd say I enjoyed the meat cabbage rolls more than the veggies ones but I did grow up eating meat cabbage rolls often. The blueberry perogies were a nice surprise and I greatly enjoyed those.
What an amazing and unique experience this place is. While visiting Toronto from Arizona, we were told to go visit Heavenly Perogy which was located in the banquet hall of a church. Never having tested Ukrainian food before, we gave it a go and we're so glad we did. It's a small place and the lady there was doing it all herself which was amazing. The food was prepared by her so it did take some time, but well worth it. My advice to anyone going is don't expect fast and be patient, you'll be greatly rewarded by the amazing food and friendliest service ever. The perogys were definitely heavenly and the food was all perfectly made. I wish I lived here as I know I'll be craving this food all the time, and look forward to visiting on my next trip.
The staff is very kind and friendly. They also speak Ukrainian. People who are saying the pierogis are store-bought and microwaved, do not know anything about pierogis. There is no way to get the potato filling tasting the way it did in store-bought pierogis, and just by the texture of the dough, it was clear that these haven't even been frozen. The blueberry pierogis were delicious and had a unique taste. The borscht was also great. Their garlic bread was made with actual garlic instead of some powder. The establishment was quiet. Parking: Street parking on the sidewalk Wheelchair accessibility: You have to go downstairs and there's no ramp.
These aren’t you’re store bought mass produce plastic bag perogies, their made& cooked fresh! If your in the area or are checking out the reviews I’d highly recommend this place to anybody trying perogies for the first time or just a lover of Ukrainian food, plus you’re supporting Tetyana Matkivska cooking out of the basement of a Ukrainian church. I may also just have a biased opinion about this place because I’m partly Ukrainian myself.
Great spot for perogies, although we recommend this as a takeout spot as their is little vibe in the place. It's located in the basement of a Ukrainian Church
Finally got a taste of the fabulous Ukrainian perogies, schnitzel and cabbage rolls @heavenlyperogyto today Heavenly Perogy serves a variety of both hot and frozen food, and is located on 400 Bathurst St, tucked modestly in the St Volodymyr Cathedral Banquent Hall church basement. Ive tasted their vegan cabbage rolls with white/purple coleslaw and sauerkraut, sausage with sauerkraut, mushroom perogies, pork schnitzel, and blueberry perogy dessert....all were superb! Also picked up their frozen Dyruny potato pancakes, Syrynky cottage cheese cakes, Butternut squash and coconut milk soup, meatballs, and meat cabbage rolls to try later When checking out their website, you can also donate to the Ukraine Defense Forces Fund, the Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal, or the BCU Foundation in Canada. Any donation amount makes a difference to the citizens living this heartbreaking, abhorrent reality. #standwithukraine
This place is across the street from the hospital my fiancé was getting his surgery at. This venue church was very clean and the person serving my partner’s mom and I was very polite and humble. The place felt very welcoming and the food tasted like it was made from a family with love. Authentic, good quality and a great variety of food to order. We had the cheese perogies to sit down and eat and ordered borscht to go for my partner. This stew was the perfect meal after my partners surgery it’s also gluten free as my partner is allergic to gluten and I will definitely order from here again!
