Have you ever wondered what Saskatchewan tastes like? Harvest Eatery & Fresh Market, Tourism Saskatchewan's 2014 "Rookie of the Year' is an upscale, fresh concept restaurant in rural Shaunavon, SK that specializes in locally produced, seasonal ingredients that best demonstrates the bounty that Saskatchewan has to offer. By using seasonal ingredients found in SW Saskatchewan and featuring local farmers and producers from the province, Harvest Eatery can confidently say, their menu is an innovative example of how Saskatchewan tastes.

Chef Garrett 'Rusty' Thienes’ menus are a creative tribute to classic prairie dishes and recipes. With a focus on not just the ingredients, which are locally sourced as much as possible, but the techniques and history of the dishes themselves and their impact on our culture in the prairies. Further, they offer an educational dining experience. The staff of Harvest eloquently describes the ingredients, flavours and preparation of dishes, while guests watch Chef Garrett prepare the food in the heart of the restaurant – the open kitchen. Have you ever noticed most dinner parties end up in the kitchen? Harvest did, so they brought the kitchen to the party.

A five-star gastronomical experience in the least likely place: small-town Saskatchewan!nFrom the get-go, the staff was welcoming and knowledgeable. Tianna gave us information about the menu as though she was reading it!nI had the pork belly appetizer with a side salad. The savoury and slightly sweet pieces of pork and the fresh salad not drowning in too much salad dressing were a well-balanced combination.nMy hubby had the filet mignon. He said it was THE best he had while on our vacation. Tender and flavourful.nOften, the chefs at this caliber of resto hide in the back… but not this time! We had the pleasure of meeting the owner/chef who was genuinely interested in us.nWe also noticed the staff paid attention to detail. One server inspected wine glasses to make sure they were spotless.nnThis restaurant is a gem! A must!
Our third time, and each and every time, we come, we are so looking forward to the food, the service and the connections with the staff. When we are in the area about once a year, we make it a special date.nnThe food is excellent, my husband enjoys the ribs & brisket and I enjoy having options with my many food allergies. This time I enjoyed the duck with the beet and greens salad on the side without the cheese, pecans and dressing. The duck I had, the skin was caramelized which was so delicious, it tasted like dessert. Instead oil was drizzled over the salad. Everything that we ate, melted in our mouth.nnI’m allergic to gluten, grain, sugar, starch, soy & dairy. They are so good with allergies, just give them a heads up in your booking if there is any…. Excellent place for a date and to drive many hours out of your way to eat here !!
Oh my... attention all goodies. Get in line to taste the team's dedicated service, quaint atmosphere and Chef Garrett's stunning menu. Wow, the duck was amazing, the chicken dish was perfectly spiced and the trout was simply incredible. Had whiskey sour, French 75 and Caesar for cocktails, Malbec and bubbly for dinner.... delicious. Visiting family in the area and had this lovely dinner in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. Can't wait to eat at this fabulous restaurant next time we come through.
We were in Shaunavon for a family weekend and stumbled upon this place. Food was excellent. Cocktail special was lovely.
We drove an hour out of the way to go to this place and from the outside it was understated, but it didn't disappoint. The bone marrow bison tartar was amazing, and the speckled park beef tenderloin with bearnaise rivaled steaks I've had in Argentina. Chef Rusty knows how to treat beef. Great art from local artists. It's a vibe. The Peruvian chicken, brisket, and cheese dip were also favourites at our table.
