I have visited this place twice, and it amuse me with very tasty tart and loaf and pastry. They have wide range of ice-cream and pastry and many other baked items. Eagerly waiting to taste all varieties from here.
I used to really love eating here until the last few orders of their ‘Bacon Not Stirred’ was made with severely undercooked bacon raw that I couldn’t even stomach another bite & had to throw it out. Ironically the eggs were over cooked & hard around the center so I had to rip off the edges before trying to eat it. I know they are under new management so I’ll absolutely blame this unfortunate change in quality because of that. Avoid if you don’t want to get sick.
Ordered a chocolate truffle cake with pink, yellow & blue flowers for my 6-year-old’s birthday. We asked for it to be colourful. It was BROWN. And the writing looked like it had been done by a 5-year-old. When I pointed out that it was supposed to be colourful, they said “chocolate truffle cake doesn’t get more colourful”. So I brought the cake to Dairy Queen, where they removed the truffles and writing and added colour, and put the truffles back on the sides. Cake was delicious, but NOT what I ordered. And not appropriate for a 6-year-old birthday. WILL NOT RETURN. Photos: 1 White & Brown cookie from the original cake. 2 After Dairy Queen made it colourful!
Every time I feel like I need a treat, I head to The Happy Baker. Their lunch soups are the best with such a great variety. I haven't tasted one I haven't loved yet. The home-made bread - YUM. And those peanut butter balls though ... what a lucky place to be living with a gem like this amongst us.
This is without a doubt the best bakery in town. My favourites are the round sunflower loaf, the cheese bread and the Boston brown bread. Their Black Forest cake is delectable and light not in calories!. If you want a delicious lunch or something tasty to take home for supper, you won’t be disappointed. The owner and his employees are very helpful and friendly, which creates a great atmosphere for customers.
Have been here on numerous occasions and each time leave not wanting to come back. Will not be back again despite wanting to support local cafes. The staff are not friendly, they are dismissive and unhelpful. They make you feel like your presence is annoying and want you gone. The menu is confusing with no prices. The front staff are rude. I will never be back here even though for years it has been a family favourite. When I walk into a place it’d be nice to see a smile and a greeting. Totally ruins the whole experience no matter the quality of food. I went in with my two baby nieces and was looking for a breakfast sandwich. The lady told me to order at another counter so I moved over. I asked the other staff if I could just have a regular breakfast sandwich and she just said we have those pre made in the fridge and pointed behind me. I left with nothing.
Old review below -- Happy Baker used to be my favorite place in town for lunch or dinner I love sandwiches but for some time they just seem to constantly dissapoint. Orders are made wrong, one sub had plastic in it, one sub was missing the brie it was a BrieLT so the main ingredient. They once gave me the wrong subs and when I called still 20 minutes before close they wanted me to come back the next day even though I lived near by - after insisting I wanted the correct order the same day, I was still out of there with 5 minutes to spare. Something that wasn't a big deal to me at first, turned into a big deal to them even though they made the wrong sub... The service isn't what it used to be, the food is hit or big miss, and the prices have gone so far up that its not even worth it... They look to have new owners so it's interesting to see how much that will effect a business that used to be loved ----------------- Best subs in town and their pastries are delicious
Such a wonderful spot - great staff, delicious food and quick service. We are always checking the Facebook page for the soup of the day we also have been know to call! LOVE The Happy Baker! - Mariah
Old review below for reference* The Happy Baker has on several occasions had mishaps with both my and my friends orders. I have had what was clearly plastic packaging IN a sandwich. We have gotten the wrong sandwiches several times as well as sandwiches simply missing toppings? There have been clear price increases without note and some items aren't clearly listed. Pricing is going up and that's okay, but it would be great if everything was transparent for customers. Tonight after getting the wrong sandwiches again the employees were arguing over who made the mistake?? This just isn't professional. We loved the Happy Baker and it sucks to think we are just so tired of this we will go to a Subway instead? ------------------------------------ The Happy Baker has made me happy everytime I've gone in. The staff are good at what they do and everything is delicious. The sandwiches are to die for; having some awesome choices that make it hard to choose which one you want more.
just be aware they put their old sandwiches in the front, the date tag is very small .sometime you will see sandwiches packed 3 days ago
