Handsome Hog has an amazing brunch menu! Everything we ordered was delicious with well balanced flavors. My friend had their Handsome Hog Hot Brown which was absolutely fantastic! The house ham was juicy and incredibly tender, the pecan bacon had a perfect balance of pecan and bacon flavor, the mornay sauce was rich and creamy, marinated tomatoes came on the side along with a cup of mixed greens, and the Gouda and the sunny side egg crowned the open faced dish with the egg having the most perfect run I've ever seen. I had the BBQ chopped salad which was exactly what I was looking for in a salad. Of course I ordered their Bacon Old Fashioned with a fancy ice cube that had a hog image in it and my friend ordered their Bloody Mary which came with a proper beer chaser which was again perfect; not too spicy, but definitely not mild. And the final drink that we ordered was a pineapple drink that was just as refreshing as it looked. Our server Amanda was excellent - we never felt rushed, overlooked, nor was she overly attentive. Handsome Hog is a favorite brunch spot and I can't wait until they open their patio... it's one of the best in town! Five stars for their amazingly delicious food and five stars for our server Amanda. Parking: They have a designated parking lot just west of Red Cow restaurant, which was confusing since the parking lot is not next to the restaurant itself... I think most people think it's Red Cow's parking lot, but it isn't. Wheelchair accessibility: No steps to get inside the restaurant and there are no steps to get to their huge patio.
If you haven't been to the Handsome Hog yet... you need to go! We've driven past so many times, saying we should try that. We'll tonight was the night for date night! Tyler was our server and he was incredible! Great suggestions and he gave so many details about the menu. Our drinks were delicious, the food arrived quickly, and well... it was delicious! Seriously, we will be back again soon!
Shut up and take my money, this place is INCREDIBLE!!! Cream is the name of the game when it comes to cocktails here. Purified heaven. All of their smoked meats are incredible. Our first trip to Handsome Hog and it will not be our last! Great attention to service from the beginning. We arrived to our reservation early and they were able to seat us right away despite being very busy. Our server Alex was the best, answering our questions and making suggestions. So easy to talk to and knowledgeable. I rarely drink and ended up ordering the #dope. It was so balanced and smooth, I thought about ordering another. If you like mussels don’t miss these, you won’t be disappointed. I ordered the Coffee Rubbed Elk Tenderloin. I’ve never had elk in a restaurant and they prepared it beautifully. All I can say from service, to food and drink Handsome Hog was a great experience, thank you!
This place was absolutely amazing! I had the brisket hash. The flavors meshed so well. It had a slight kick but just warm not hot at all. I do wish the potatoes were cooked just a hair more. The chicken and waffles were cooked perfectly and tender. The flavor for the breading was delicious. Staff was friendly and kept the water full.
The atmosphere and service was excellent! Our server Michael was absolutely amazing! I will come back just to be served by him again. He had great recommendations for food options including the delectable cinnamon roll. My husband had the Hot Brown and enjoyed the meal. The meal was savory and smokey. I had the Crab Cake Benedict and that was yummy! The crab cake was full of crab and had minimal filler. The greens and pickled onions were a nice surprise. The only issue we had with the food was the heavy handed use of the Old Bay seasoning in the Benedict. We will come back again for lunch or dinner and will request to be seated in Michael's section!
Second time we were turned away from the patio. Reservations needed for sure! Went for brunch. The Benedict did not disappoint. I had the rib meat version little spice to that meat, my son had the crab cake version. Both are excellent. Came with a nice mixed green salad. My husband had chicken and waffles. He said the chicken was very good and crispy.
Went for lunch; it wasn't crowded at all, which was cool. I ordered a biscuit, but sent it back because it was dry. The ribs were good, nice and tender! My friend had the chicken and waffles which she said was good she just wished the waffles were a little bigger. We had a good server as well. Overall the food was good, and we had a good experience. We will be go back to try their dinner service.
Overall I would recommend Handsome Hog to just about anyone. Parking was initially hard to find, but then we spotted a lot to the west that Handsome Hog would validate the parking. Super slick, and only a minute walk to the restaurant in below zero temps! We were seated quickly, and the aroma of the kitchen wafted through the dining area. Our server was attentive, and we were able to get our drink order fairly fast. After ordering food, it did take a while, but that could have been a function of it being a Saturday night. My only main gripe was that it was so loud in the space, given the concrete floors and metal finishes, there weren't a lot of features that absorbed the sound. It was hard to have a conversation even with only two people.
We started with one biscuit and one cornbread muffin, each split, in lieu of a starter. The cornbread was excellent; the biscuit was good, but not the star. Loved the spicy honey butter on both, but the cornbread could do without it. Entrees were salad so big and so filling! Cornbread croutons were delicious! with a side of Mac n cheese ask for extra cheetos, they really make the dish shine! and the two meat platter ribs were good, BF liked the brisket best. Overall, a good dining experience. Highly recommend making a reservation-- we did not and were very lucky to squeeze in.
