Halo is a beautiful secret for last minute upscale, hip and modern dining. It's a lesser known establishment for contemporary dishes. Their menu is diverse and meat and vegetarian options with a fusion spin. The costs are high but the food and space match the price points. It's a very modern futuristic space in the hotel at the airport so I'm guessing a lot of transient traffic. It's also far for Edmontonians to get food but if you're looking for a special dining experience, a change of pace or something new, check it out.
We just had an excellent dinner with exceptional service at Halo Bar and Bistro. We sat at the bar and our bartender was Tristan. He was very informative about the food and bourbon. We ordered based on his recommendations, Lamb shank picture added for me and pork belly with scallops for my husband. Both Delicious. Mouth watering actually. The highlight was the diamond old fashion that Tristan made for me. He is impeccable with his preparation and presentation. I will post a video of the drink. It was spicey and delicious just like Tristan
Best restaurant to dine in at the Edmonton International Airport inside the hotel. An interesting menu but depending what you order the food is delicious and the staff are absolutely amazing. Very professional and set an amazing atmosphere along with the chill music and surrounding. Definitely enjoy eating at Halo. I recommend the Chicken Caesar Salad, Halo signature burger and the butter chicken. Nachos were a great appetizer.
Food was very tasty and the portions were quite large as well. The kids really enjoyed their meals, although they never came close to finishing them at all. The mushroom ravioli was delicious, as was the butter chicken. The staff were amazing and brought our kids some toys to occupy them along with crayons and colouring sheets. The service was quite quick as well. We returned the next morning for breakfast, which was delicious. If only I had taken some photos. The pancakes were nice and fluffy and my wife loved the french toast, as did one of the kids. The other are all of her chocolate chip pancakes. The manager even dropped off some smoothies for us to try while waiting on our food.
Great place to dine and have a beverage. Relaxing service with timely drinks, appetizers and main. Wonderful having this calibre of restaurant at YEG. Food and options are always great.Recommended dishesMushroom Ravioli, Butter Chicken
Update - I went back for breakfast again this morning. The waiter was still very good and remembered the room number I was staying in from the previous morning. The food was much better today. I got the classic breakfast. The potatoes were super tasty. Original - The waiter was super nice and good at his job. The Salmon Benedict was presented nice, but not very good. The English muffin was soggy, the hollandaise sauce had no taste to it, the poached egg was over cooked, and the red onion was an obvious attempt to make it look like there was more salmon on it than there actually was. The hotel this is in is at the airport and not very busy. This might be only a result of Covid Job cuts.
This review refers to the bar/lounge area and not the sit-down restaurant: Our favourite airport hotel bar/lounge. The food is consistently tasty, and their signature Manhattan is worth mention; prices are typical for a comparable venue. The service is always above-average, and often truly top notch! Rolly is one bartender who deserves a positive mention. During the work week you may even encounter the ‘end of workday’ team, with an ice punch-bowl filled with a tasty beverage. The ambiance is unique, with design elements I have not seen in any other place. There are a number of different niches to sit, depending on your style eg. Bar front, tradition tables, or comfy couches and stylish chairs. Overall, would recommend.
I enjoyed the butter chicken and creme brule. They were both great. The butter chicken was creamy and full of flavor and I definitely recommend.
Ordered the classic eggs Benny . Food took a really long time to come out for our group last plate was 15 mins later than the first plate . When it arrived there was barely any hollandaise and it had a really odd texture and almost no taste . I asked for more hollandaise and the server came back and said the kitchen told her that I don’t need more hollandaise. Also the eggs were very over poached . Overall it was a poor experience but the server was great . Also saw her ask another guy for help since she was the only server and he said rudely that he’s not there to help her .
Amazing experience and very nice service. The staff was welcoming and the food was honestly amazing. Please do try the butter chicken .
