Drive from Tantallon to downtown Halifax to drop off a passport application in snowy weather. Walk from my parking spot to their office on snowy sidewalks. Arrive to find out they had closed 3hrs early because of the snow. I was 7 minutes late and the entire trip was a waste. I’m an ER nurse. Funny. I have to work my whole shift even when it’s snowing.
The agent that processed my passport renewal forgot that the office was closed on December 27th, which almost cost me nearly $1000. On December 21st, I visited the office to get my passport renewed while I visited my parents for the holidays. I had a flight back to the U.S., where I live and work, at 9:15am on December 28th. Based on my flight receipt, the agent recommended expedited processing and said that I should come back on December 27th at 1pm to pick it up so I could make my flight the next morning because the office opens at 830am and it takes 30 min to travel to the airport, the next morning would not have worked. I arrived on the 27th to find that the office was closed for the holidays I learned it was planned to be closed per government holidays. This means the agent simply forgot that the office was planning to be closed on the 27th. If she had remembered, the agent could have processed my passport to be ready on the 23rd before the holidays started. I was lucky to make my flight only because it was delayed by 30 minutes. I arrived on the 28th at 830am, picked up my passport, rushed to the airport and through security, and just made it on time. Without the delay, I would have missed my flight and had to pay $1000 to find a replacement flight. Replacement flights were costing roughly $1000 due to the havoc in the northeast from the recent winter storm. This is extremely irresponsible by the agent. She should have known the office would be closed on the 27th. This would have prompted her to have my passport processed by the 23rd, well within what was possible I would have happily paid the 24 hour processing fee. This irresponsibility was further accented by the agent's vocal complaining that she had not had her morning coffee yet as she was processing my renewal. While I'm sure the government would not claim responsibility for a missed flight, it's a catch-22 because you need to show a flight receipt to get expedited processing. When I picked up my passport on the 28th and explained what had happened, the new agent didn't even bother to apologize on behalf of the other agent. Terrible experience.
Applied for a passport renewal in early September. I arrived early, at about 7:50 am ..was 12th in line, and was on my way back home by 9:20 am. Was expecting to be there much longer. Staff was organized and super friendly! Thanks for the great service!!
I booked an appointment online the day before, no problems. Skipped the line to get in, just go to the front and state you have an appointment and they let you right in. My number was called almost instantly. The lady who helped me even gave me travel tips for my destination! Wonderful service. Call the number and they will assist you with everything you need. In and out in 30 minutes.
Got there early. Was smooth and efficient. My passport agent was very helpful.
We got there right at opening 830a and we were out by 915a. 3 passports renewed. Staff was awesome.
Really fast and easy, it looks like the people with bad reviews don't have their s#$t together.
Helpful staff, quick and painless. I had all my paperwork prepared and they gave me a pick up date 2 weeks away with a minor fee if I wish.
Got the right info from Service Canada and have both passports required with no extra costs or long waits. Great job and fabulous to see even more new hires being trained to help!
Security guard posted in October 13th was extremely rude, continuously had mask off. Workers were very helpful
