Story

Guelph Lake Veterinary Hospital is a locally owned and community focused veterinary practice located in the rapidly growing east end of Guelph, Ontario. Opened in the fall of 2013, the practice boasts state of the art equipment combined with a dedication to excellent patient care and customer service. Our facility is designed with the patient and client in mind, offering the services and comfort to support you and your pet through all the life stages whether it’s checkups and vaccinations for young, healthy pets, diagnostic testing for early detection of disease in aging animals, or any required treatment or surgery along the way.

At Guelph Lake Vet, we believe in getting to know you and your pet. We understand that each pet is unique and our medical care is tailored to each animal that we see.

Our friendly, knowledgeable staff place a high priority on communication and use tools including this website, text messaging and excellent record-keeping to be sure that you are up to date and involved in all aspects of your pet's health management.

They charged $470 for a blood work, one shot of antibiotics, 7 pills of antibiotics and 2 cans of dog food. After the first week of treatment, they gave us 2 different kinds of antibiotics. For $70+ dollars. They quoted for $2,000 for a spade surgery, and told me if I do it else where, I would get charged for $4,000. Maybe it’s because I am a new immigrant, they thought it’s easy to rip me off. Through family and friends’ help, we found a more decent vet clinic. My dog got the treatment and surgery with less than $1,000!!!! I think the price difference exist for different clinics. But they obviously lied about the price. I hate to think I was so close to give up my dog because I simply could not afford the surgery! It’s absolutely frustrating when the first vet you visited asked for a ton of money when you are desperate to save your beloved pet. It makes me so angry to think they are taking advantage of that situation. Everything I say here I have support of evidence. I kept all the receipts.
Offers excellent, high quality, service. The vet is knowledgeable, cares about your pets, and will work with you to come up with the best solution for you and your furry friend. I've called them many a time with issues or emailed them as well as going in for appointments. Good prices.
Dr. Scott Gardner and his staff are amazing people and you couldn't ask for a better team to take care of your four legged family members. Our dogs and cat have received wonderful, compassionate care and we would never consider going anywhere else.
This place is clueless. When your pet has an issue they don't know what's going on and don't even give recommendations. You have to ask every little detail. The 5 star reviews here must be from people who have healthy pets but wait till there's an issue and you will see.
Cannot say enough good things about Dr. Scott and his staff! He did very complex surgery on our dog, later helped her leave us in a compassionate way and is now taking great care of our cat who had the misfortune of colliding with a car. He knows his stuff; he truly cares about our pets; he ensures we understand all of our options so we can make an educated decision and a really nice person! I would not consider going anywhere else!
Dr. Gardiner is an outstanding vet. He has treated a number of our cats and he and the other vets provide exceptional service and support. What is particularly gratifying - the entire team places the animal's welfare and health as the primary concern. The veterinary team takes the time to explain carefully and fully every aspect of the treatment or examination. I am delighted to have found a veterinary team that is so caring to ensure the health of our furry companions. We will continue to bring all of our cats to the clinic for the exceptional care.
My roommate and I got two kittens a few weeks ago and took them here last week for their first vet visit. The vet was amazing. Answered all of our questions and didn’t rush our visit at all. He was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make sure the kittens felt comfortable during the time there. Definitely going to be going here for all of their future visits.
