Great meals with local ingredients, kind staff and space to enjoy indoors and on the patio. We came for lunch and ended up coming back for breakfast because it was so good. We got the Huevos and the Big Al’s sandwich for breakfast and they were both delicious but the Big Al’s was the surprise delight.

Ground Up is a great option for daytime eats on the island! As someone who lives on Gabriola, I SO appreciate the focus on local ingredients, a mix of healthy and comfort foods, baked goods, and all around deliciousness. It’s a great vibe and the space feels like a hub in the community.

Cafe style, good service. Unbelievable food. Had an amazing simple burger. No BS. Spent 10 days in and around Vancouver Island and this was the best thing I ate.

Truely a local experience! The food is delicious, nutritious and sourced locally whenever possible. They even serve Gabriola's own Red Roaster coffee beans in their espresso. Heck, the owners are born and raised Gabriolians, so what more can you ask? This is exactly what the island has needed has needed for a LONG time and I for one am so happy so see it. Parking: Lots of parking Dietary restrictions: Fresh gluten free baked goods!
First time to this lovely cafe for brekkie & won’t be the last! Food, service, decor, & atmosphere excellent! Next time on Gabriola will have lunch. Also best coffee!
