We had a wonderful time at Kicking Horse! We went to see Boo and were graced with his presence during our tour! Factor in some time for your chair lift ride to the refuge so you can show up at the top of the hour! Our guide was knowledgeable and kind. We bought the adventure pass so we could ride the gondola to the top after. All in all, a wonderful day!
Boo the bear was pretty active when we visited. Great to see he has so much space to roam around and it being cared for as real "as if in nature" as possible. Kudos to our tour guide. She talked 1 hour non stop about Boo's life story and all kinds of bearfacts.
When we visited the center at Aug 2019 there was only one bear there, but it still well worth visiting. What made it an awesome visit was the wonderful tour where one of the girls explained all about the bears and also about the center. And the bear, called Boo was grazing right behind her all the time. You get to see the bear when you’re in the gondola to the eagles eyes center at the summit.
Lovely refuge for Boo the grizzly who was orphaned at 5 months and is now 16 years old. He enjoys a 20 acre plot all to himself and is quite easily viewed. The guides tell his story in an interesting manner and overall it was a lovely experience.
Boo and Nicole the bear lady were amazing. Nicole was very informative and friendly. We had Boo in sight for entire duration of our tour. It was a memorable experience. Thanks again for all the knowledge you shared.
The team at the refuge was wonderful. They advised us of the best spots to see Boo before the start of the tour and we were lucky enough to get an up close view. The tour was educational but still fun for the boys 10 and 8. We ended our visit with a stop at the gift shop where the attendant was also great! She worked with the boys to make sure they each got what they wanted, even pulling a bear from the back shelf so they could have the color they wanted. It was a great day!
Boo is a big, but very cute bear. You need to take the gondola up the mountain to see him. The staff was very friendly. Recommended.
If you are looking to get very up close and personal with a grizzly bear and still remain in one piece this is the place for you. The grizzly bear has approximately 20 acres of fenced in living space and has been in captivity since a very early age and accustomed to humans being near buy.
Great concept beautiful location but there is only one Grizzly and he was not visible that day. Apparently that is not unusual. Lots to pay to listen to a Well presented history of the one resident Grizzly
We did the 3pm tour on Aug 12th Last tour of the day. The guide was great and gave the group interesting information on bears, re: behaviour, habitat, as well as Boo’s background story the grizzly living on the mountain. The reason for this rating is the price. This is way too expensive for what it is. It costs 35$ per person, and we were 4 adults so total of 140$. We got to see Boo for literally 2 min at the end of the 1h-tour We did arrive 10 min late but the group did not see Boo for those 10 minutes neither. It is worth noting that they do offer another free tour if you don’t get to see Boo, but frankly, most people going there are probably tourists and don’t have the time to go back there another day. I feel better thinking that they probably have those high rates to help feed and support Boo... Overall, nice explanations, friendly staff, but too expensive. Probably very nice for your kids. Oh, and go on the first or last tour of the day for increased chances of seeing Boo.
