Located in the Vancouver's historic Gastown, Gringo is a super casual taco joint pouring cheap beer and good times.
It would be easy to say Gringo is Mexican food – with tacos as our core menu item, it would seem logical. But it would be a misnomer. Gringo certainly is inspired by south-of-the-border cuisine, but it takes more cues from SoCal & the LA food truck scene than it does the Baja. The flavour profiles are familiar – what some foodies may even call “dated”. Gringo proudly reclaims these favorite trends that emerged throughout the 90’s with the growing popularity of Earls (when it had penguins), Cactus Club (when it had cows) & when a sunny Saturday was spent sucking back Corona & sharing nachos on the patio at Carlos n’ Buds.
Remember the first time you tried a blackened Cajun chicken breast? Dipped carrots in ranch dressing? Taco Tuesday at home with Old El Paso salsa & trying to eat your taco without breaking the shell? This is the stroll down memory lane your taste buds are in for at Gringo.
