Best homebrew shop in Calgary period. Large grain selection with a mill if you need it. Tons of hop varieties, beer kits, wine kits, distilling essences, and all kinds of equipment. Truly a one stop shop. This place is best visited in person as the website doesn't show everything they have.
This place is THE destination for home brewing in Calgary. Super knowledgable staff. They have great ingredients. Good selection of parts for brewing as well. Don’t show up drunk or you may leave with more shiny stainless things than your wife would think reasonable. Check ‘em out, your liver will hate you for it
Quite probably the best stocked do it yourself wine store in Calgary. Great variety of toys to make beer and wine with. The staff is also friendly and very knowledgeable. Great for kits and home supplies. A little tricky to get to but lots of parking.
Best brew supply store in YYC. Doug and his staff are knowledgeable and always pleasant.
Great store. The owner I assume he was the owner was extremely helpful and informative. As a new brewer I appreciated the patient explanations. Good selection of wine and beer brewing equipment/ingredients, cleaning/sanitizing supplies, everything. I bought a kit but there appeared to be everything you'd need to make your own recipe. I could spend a few hours just looking around the place.
What a great place! Friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful staff that isn't snooty; just genuinely good people, and I feel that's hard to find these days. They helped me find the supplies and equipment I needed, and even threw in a small part that I forgot at no charge, which was really appreciated. The website is awesome: it's what told me that they carry what I needed. This is my favorite homebrew supply store.
Wonderful staff, great product and good prices. Highly recommended for the home brewer or vintner
Excellent knowledge and helpful staff. Great selection of products and great prices. Very large selection of grains available 4 making specialty beer. Definitely have many recipes to try
Great Selection! Great Prices! Friendly Staff! And they're not getting a penny from me. This is the very first time I've ever felt strongly enough about a negative experience to actually post about it online, but I had a really frustrating encounter with the owner I'm guessing, but seemed like the boss today. I went in looking to get started in all-grain brewing. I told the guy what I was after and he was really reasonable in declining to advise me on what I should buy because everyone's tastes are different. I told him I know what I want, but I'm not sure how much I need. I let him know that my priority was to experiment with creating my own flavours whether they turned out good or bad and I wasn't afraid of ruining it or wasting money. He kept trying to sell me a hybrid kit which seems like the worst of all worlds: the hassle of grain brewing and the inability to decide what does and doesn't go in my beer. I tried to gently decline and he gently explained why he knew better and showed me some books that he said supported his position. Aside from when he pointed out that the store was "filling up" while I was trying to understand the man's objection to selling me what I'd driven 30km to buy, I can't say he was rude exactly, but I didn't feel listened to at all. The man didn't take any time to try and understand what it was I had planned. As someone who has owned and managed small businesses not so different from this one, I can't understand what would motivate a business person to deal with their customers and their reputation in this way, but it is what it is. If you want to be listened to, spoken to like an equal or have any questions that reveal you're new to brewing, this probably isn't the shop for you.
I love how the last reviewer referred to G2G as a Candy Store, I have always called it the same. The owner Doug is a great guy and very knowledgeable. I make a fair amount of beer and bar none this store has all the grains/hops/yeasts that I need. If he doesn’t have what I’m looking for he always finds it for me. The wife doesn’t like the store too much as she thinks every visit I make changes my belt size. I think she just shrinks my clothes. Keep up the great work guys!!!
