Welcoming to beginners, challenging for veterabs. They offer classes, and have attracted a really friendly and knowledgable clientele. They add new climbs just about every week. Each puzzle hangs around for ~5 weeks, plenty of time to master it but not get tired of it.nnEnthusiastic client suggestion: add a cafe/smoothie bar in the shop!
I started going to the gym about 2 years ago because my Partner lived in the area. And it's always been good for a small gym. Staff was always courteous enough. A little sandbagged. It's stiff. Not a bad thing necessarily. It had an okay training area and the price was reasonable. Until the last time I was there I found out that because they had moved their second location but had done nothing to this location. The price was now going up from $20 for a day pass to $30. They didn't do anything to add value to this location. That's a Toronto price or a really really nice gym price And now it's beyond what I'm comfortable paying for a day pass for what I'm getting whenever I go visit my partner especially because I have friends in the setting community and I don't think much if any of that additional profit is going to the setters.
I started coming to this gym around June 2023 and have been coming regularly ever since. The staff and the other gym goers are friendly and open with new climbers. The route setters switch up the place regularly and put up a variety of styles which are a lot of fun to practice on. The hardest climbs I can do now are around orange/pink tape and the variety of routes just in that range give me enough challenges to always have something new to try and something new to learn. Thanks GRR, keep up the great work.
UPDATE: Good climbing gym but the day pass price sucks! I have to update because I found out you can still climb here for 20/session with 10 session punch card for ~200. Still dislike them upping the price to offset poor execution on new kitchener grr. This gym though the monster slant is sick and I like the workout area. The staff is pretty chill and there are a lot of fun guys and gals here. Sometimes cool dynamic climbs
Came with a friend. Never been bouldering before. Employees were really friendly in explaining the process and prices are very reasonable. One employee even went above and beyond and let my friend and I try out climbing shoes for free after seeing us attempt a few more difficult climbs without them. Have a fill up water station and clean change rooms to use. Also have lockers available for day use. Will be back again
