We went to 2 other restaurants in Rapids and they were packed so we ended up coming here. There were maybe 4 other people which thinking back says alot. Service was terrible - bartender didn't know much - ordered a Manhattan and after I saw her make one for my mother-in-law I decided against it - when she made one it filled maybe a quarter of a martini glass - she didn't understand the concept of 2 parts whisky.. one part sweet vermouth.. couple shakes of bitters done - just google it. Then when I asked what beers were on tap she had no idea what kind of beers they were she just knew the breweries. It took a good 20 minutes to even get a drink. Food was mediocre - I got nachos and then were made with the lowest quality of ingredients. I didn't finish them and that says alot. Hotel Mead portrays itself as being upscale but this place really takes away from that.
Came here on a Monday night. Bar experience was good. We ordered cheese curds when we ordered our drinks and they took about 15 min. We didn't mind since we were watching the game and enjoying our beverages. Ordered our food 5 mins after the curds 7:15ish. we ordered a burger and the stuffed mushrooms. Unfortunately, the food took at LEAST 45min when it probably should have taken 20 min. Ended up taking our food to go. Disappointed since the bar had 3 people in it.
Apparently you can't order from the full menu, our waitress mistakenly let us then made us walk to the other restaurant to get our soup and salad from the salad bar and walk it back to our table in the tavern. We felt extremely awkward and don't want to do that again. Our waitress didn't know anything about the menu when we had questions.
We enjoyed our time in the tavern. Eric was a great bartender. Friendly and makes a great drink. A great place to meet up with our group of friends staying at the Hotel Mead.
Picked up a new Packer glass. The bartender Eric is very friendly. Ordered pizza which was delicious. Nancy ordered a gluten free pizza that was also delicious.
Wait staff is awesome. Food is medocre and very slow delivery of ordered items. 45 minutes for appetizers. Managers not friendly or accommodating. Will not go here again.
Great prices and comfortable atmosphere. Happy hour from 4 to 6!
Bartender is awesome!!!! Laid back fun and accommodating!!
