Really wonderful small mom and pop restaurant!! Don’t listen to all the other people who complain about the service - they’re doing their best with their situation, and the kind of earnestness comes through with both the humble service and delicious food. The sausage gravy and biscuits are to die for - rich and creamy, savory and soft. My sister who got the pancakes a notorious picky eater also found her new fave in the pancakes which were large, fluffy, and tasty. If she had a car, I know she would be coming down her every weekend haha!
Great staff. Great food. The pancakes when solo ordered are massive. The prices are super low. My fiance and I had brunch and everything together was about 25 dollars. Again. 2 giant pancakes for $6.25, the waitress told us they used to make them bigger than that! We are local so we will be visiting again.
Came here after my trip to the Mansfield flea market, it was around 9am and was getting hungry. Found this spot on my searches just before I left to go to the flea market. Was looking at the menu and saw that they had homemade sausage gravy and biscuits also they had homemade hash ill have to come back for that next trip.
Food was great! Atmosphere is really like waiting in grandma's kitchen for breakfast right down to the knick nacks and small grandma's kitchen sign that was actually in my grandma's kitchen at one time. People were freindly and service was great.
I came to visit my friend at UConn and we went here for breakfast. Hands down the best breakfast I’ve had in a very long time. Their menu was so creative and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Their pancakes are HUGE. I will definitely have to go back when I’m in town.
Went for breakfast, had the biscuits and gravy, and the eggs and hash. Both were awesome!! Small friendly place, owner is very nice. Will definitely be back soon!
Strange place. After apologizing for the wait, the cook was sitting outside smoking a cigarette. After waiting an hour, being served cups full of coffee grinds, being told they were out of oj, and not receiving any food, we had to give up. We left hungry. If you have any kind of schedule to keep, or are taking your hungry UConn student out for breakfast, skip it. The girls who work here are sweet, but I’m not sure what’s going on here. It didn’t even smell like bacon.
If there was less than one star I would have put it. Went with a party of five. We ordered 2 cokes and 3 coffees. Never got menus had to wait for a new pot of coffee which was great to have fresh coffee finally coffee came and no cream no sugar and still no menus. Now being there over ten minutes with nothing for our coffee and no menus we decided to leave. I went inside and told the server that we were leaving and why and she apologized and said they had no more containers to bring cream and sugar. Ugh !! So I asked if I could use a credit card and she said cash is preferred so was cream for my coffee anyway I handed her the cash and she said thanks and never gave me my change ….. Bottom line we will never go back to this establishment. Both adults standing right there never offered to help with my problem and just wanted to take my money. Not a very nice mom and pop attitude !!
We have a circuit of breakfast joints in the Mansfield area, but Gramma's is the best. The owner puts a lot of love into the food, and it's simply more delicious than any other breakfast restaurant. He doesn't just follow a recipe to get through the orders. He makes sure each meal is as delicious as possible, which is rare to see nowadays especially at a breakfast joint. It reminds me a lot of the little family restaurants all over Japan - a few tables, homey feel, delicious food in which the chef takes pride. Gramma's is a special place that feels like you stepped into an older, simpler time in America. I hope it remains for many, many years.
We love this place, customers feel like family, owner/cook always has creative things on the menu, the plate sized pancakes are delicious too! Friendly service and good food always keeps us coming back!
