Gonzo Izakaya

I had the pleasure of visiting and dining at Gonzo Izakaya , the food and drinks were amazing and the staff were so kind and attentive! You need to try the pressed salmon sushi , karrage , and skewers ! Everything was so delicious and fresh , they also had a great cocktail selection that pairs well with all the bar foods ! I will definitely be coming again with my friends , this is now one of my go to spots in Toronto !

This is such a nice, chill Japanese restaurant on College street. The service is good and our server was very helpful in terms of suggestions for our party of 6. She recommended that we get 5 snacks and 2 of the rice/noodles dishes, which is was we did, but we were hungry so we ended up ordering 1 more of the snack dishes and more sushi. The bill split 6 ways including a couple of drinks came to about $50, including tip. The food was really delicious and I would definitely go back!

The food and atmosphere were great. I especially loved trying all the different appetizers. My favourites were probably the crispy cabbage and the tuna tataki.

The Sushi and sake were very delicious. The staff was friendly and the decoration is nice. The place is not very cosy and it was chilly during late October.

Really great experience having a birthday dinner here. This Pear Sake was some of the best I’ve had. Birthday wise they went above and beyond providing a little dessert & card on the house. All the food was excellent, I only removed a star because it was expensive for the size of the dishes. All were very good though!

Definitely a great izakaya. The food was of high quality, decently priced, big portioned and authentic. The service was phenomenal and the ambiance was good. Enjoyed my meal here. Would surely come back!

Good food, it's just the servings are small. Amazing place, amazing vibe, amazing music playing inside. Good place if you're in Toronto late at night and you want a place to hang out with friends. There's a vibey retro television there with a camera recording stuff and a gaming console you can try while waiting, but the text is all in Japanese and the food arrives really fast anyways. We had the buta don a bit smokey, the yakiniku don a bit on the sweeter side and some chicken karaage and potato salad. They were all scrumptious and we were left wanting for more. Will come back to try some drinks maybe!

A really great hole in the wall that I wish I didn't need to spoil with a review because now it might get overcrowded, but I owe it to the place and the staff. The food was delicious and the price was insanely reasonable Second review: this place was just as good as the last time I was here 8 months ago. The menu has changed slightly, but it's still delicious. The staff are so nice and friendly. I'm definitely coming back again.

Nice izakaya to kick back, relax, and have a no fuss drink. Also loved the two donburi bowls ordered and you get a free karage. Karage was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, just how it should be. Both donburi bowls were excellent. I thought the okonomiyaki could use some improvement. Service was attentive and on point.

Absolutely fantastic Buta Don dish here! This Izakaya is a new favourite for me. Great service and a tight menu with selections of awesome Japanese dishes.
