We've been going to Golden Swan for yearsssss, both for dinner and dimsum, and finally I've got pictures of the dim sum that I can post. We find the dimsum has their own taste compared to other places that after a while, everything taste the same or pasty from the fillers. You can order what you like from the sheet or experience their push cart system - which offers their most popular items. We usually place the order from the sheet and when the push cart arrives, they tick off the order sheet. Overall, I'm surprised they don't get higher rating than other dim sum places.nAlso, once in a while, we get 10% off and we don't know what their criteria is. Like this time, we went on Sunday after 11:30am. We've never had the discount when going this time before. So....it was a nice surprise.
Been coming here for years, and this place still has an old school charm. Yes they recently renovated the place, but it still feels like the place of old. The push carts are a nice touch of nostalgia, and the ailes are big enough to accommodate them. Plenty of seating for groups of all sizes.
Since 1998 Golden Swan Restaurant is a popular Chinese restaurant in Vancouver's Victoria Drive, known for its traditional Cantonese cuisine and award-winning dim sum. It offers a nostalgic dining experience with push-cart dim sum service, a wide menu, and options for both casual meals and larger banquets.nnThe atmosphere is big, bold, and brassy. It’s very old-school Hong Kong style. It is large, noisy, and lively spot popular with local families.nnService can be a hit or miss at times. When this place gets busy quality control quickly degrades. I would try to avoid the busy times to enjoy the better experience.nnThey have a a large banquet hall and VIP rooms for events, along with a large parking lot in front of the restaurant.nnFrom my experience. If Western Lake Restaurant is fully booked, Golden Swan across the street will always have a table or shorter waiting time for dim sum.nnWe recently celebrated my dad’s birthday here for dinner. The service and food is fantastic. It wasn’t too busy for Saturday night, about half full.nnMay 2026nCame back for Mother’s Day. Delicious. Capacity 75% full. Attentive service.
Still a very good choice to eat here. The food is still good, service about the same as usual. Perfect for family gatherings and/or dinners.nnSide note: not every dish is great but the majority are pretty good.nnI recommend if you are in a small group, don’t order too much. 1 bowl of rice for every 2 toppings until you’re about to become a literal balloon is the general rule of thumb here.
Stumbled in last Friday evening after a long day and Golden Swan ended up being one of the better meals I've had in Vancouver this trip. The Peking duck was carved tableside with real care, thin pancakes, crisp skin, the whole thing done properly and not rushed. Service was attentive without hovering, which as someone constantly eating in restaurants across different cities, I genuinely appreciate. If you're in the area, don't skip this one.
