We’ve ordered a few items before from Skip and really enjoyed their food. Went here for lunch today to try other dishes from their menu and they didn’t disappoint. We had jerked chicken wings, house special fried chicken and the Jamaican curried goat - everything served on our table was hot and fresh. The jerked chicken was well marinated and not over cooked; the fried chicken has really good spice rub, lightly breaded but crispy. The curried goat was not gamy and the meat was very tender and flavourful. Staff was super nice and friendly. Tip: they serve a generous portion so come hungry. Will be back again for sure!
Had a delicious meal here a couple days ago. I had the oxtail bowl, my partner had the goat curry. Both were delicious. My dish had cilantro rice that was unfortunately cold. But, the oxtail was hot which helped maintain heat to the overall dish. Next time I'll make a point of asking for hot rice. The drizzled sauces on top were nice, though I would like a bit more spiciness. My partner had plantain as one of their side dishes, and it was cold also. Staff were kind and helpful. We'll be back for sure.
This is definitely a hidden gem in the west end of Winnipeg! The owners are one of the loveliest people I’ve met and you can tell how much love they put into their cooking. Everything shown here are in house made. The items I tried are: Malibu Pineapple, Peppered Shrimp, Jerked Chicken Wings, Island BBQ Chicken Wings, Plantain Chips and Dip, Jerked Chicken and Plantain Poutine, Samosas: Chicken, Veggie, Beef. Oxtail Bowl, Ochi Jerked Chicken Special, Walk Like A Champion Burger, Jamaican Curried Goat, Butter Rum Cake The oxtail bowl is a MUST try! It was tender, juicy and flavourful! The rice underneath the oxtail was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Another favourite of mine was the poutine! Adding plantains to the poutine took it to another level. If you’re looking for a thick and juicy burger, their Walk Like A Champion Burger is the one to try. It also has plantains if you love it as much as I do The jerk chicken wings were very spicy, I found it spicier than their ochi jerk chicken special. The island bbq wings was sweet! The butter rum cake was the best rum cake I have ever had. It was soft and fluffy! I loved the spiced whipped cream it comes with. Parking: Available to park on the side streets after 5:30 pm!
The best Jamaican food in Winnipeg! This is our third time here, and the food is phenomenal. The service is great, and the decor is good with excellent Reggae music playing. I don't know why it took us so long to find this place.Food: 5/5
We had a fantastic meal tonight! The jerk chicken, oxtail, shrimps and snapper were amazing. We were treated like family by the staff and owner. I strongly encourage you to treat yourself to an excellent Caribbean meal. We will be back!
Would highly recommend Glady’s Caribbean Kitchen. My favourite part is how there’s poutine, pasta, burger, samosas, dessert and a selection of drinks on the menu. Their service is prompt, food is amazing, presentation on point, and they have amazing staff and owners. I’m still obsessed with the Oxtail Bowl, and I’m sure I’ll coming back again and again.
Gladys ROCKS! Come brush mi pudding is the perfect dessert for me: a little warming spice, a little sweet, totally satisfying. The jerked portobello mushrooms meal was totally surprising, delightful, and a veritable rainbow of veggies. Something for meat eaters and vegans, great portion sizes, and lovely service. Don’t miss this west end gem!
Very highly recommend!! Great customer service and very well flavoured food. Also has great presentation! I really liked the oxtail, shrimp, jerk wings. A hidden gem for sure! Would definetely come back again :
As authentic as it gets! I had the Vegan Jerked Portobello dish and it is to die for! My partner had the Red Snapper, and it was phen-nom-nom-nom! The food is not too spicy, but can be made more spicy if you like it that way. The owner is an amazing woman, and treats all her customers like family. Will definitely be back many more times!
If you are looking for a new restaurant, Glady's Caribbean Kitchen is it! We ordered the dinner specials so we could try more variety. I wish I had taken pictures as the presentation was beautiful! The aroma delights you as you enter the restaurant. By the time you finish ordering, you are ready to dive in because everything smells so good! From the goat soup, oxtail puffs, chicken curry, and finishing off with a decadent rum cake , our entire meal was an explosion of the most amazing flavors!!!!!! I highly recommend this place.
