Fresh cakes and pastries baked from scratch. I love that sugar is not the dominating ingredient, so one can appreciate the more subtle flavors and how everything comes together beautifully. I experienced super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful service in person and by phone. The prices were very reasonable in comparison.
Everything we experienced here was great. Friendly staff, delicious food at reasonable prices. Parking was fine. The desert was tasty without being too sweet.

Product was hit and miss. Some pastries were slightly dry. The poppyseed roll was fantastic. I would have liked a more personable experience but the employees were a bit busy in personal conversations.
This place is such a gem in Lakewood! The pastry is authentic, fresh, insanely delicious, and it's beautiful to look at! The staff is also very kind and helpful, and so enjoyable to talk to and interact with!
Rude service and had to wait for a slice of already made cake for 20 minutes. The people behind me did get served before me. This isn't the place I came to as a kid with my Oma!! However, the store next door still an awesome place to go.
Recommend everything offered. Particularly the Bee Sting and Poppy Bun. The large selection of cakes is enticing despite my not being a stalwart cake person. If you get there early enough, there are typically day-old pastries at a discount. It's not cheap, but it's a very nice treat if you enjoy authentic German style pastries and cakes.
I'm German and Hess always has all the greatest German treats you could ever possibly want. Been a customer for countless years and always will remain one.
