OH MY WORD. This place is so so amazing! One of the best breakfast burritos I’ve EVER had! There’s so so much flavor in every bite! any absolutely love that there’s so many vegan options too! If you’re in town, and looking for a yummy place to eat breakfast or lunch.. THIS is the place to go!
Great service, good food, but I was hoping for more traditional dumplings and/or dim sum. Menu is small and not too variable. Also the decor is identical to the Gecko Tree hippy cafe that preceded it which makes for a strange vibe. Quick coat of paint and new artwork would go a long way to creating a coherent atmosphere and switching out the classic rock for something more chill. I will keep coming back because it’s Williams Lake, and because the food was good, but hoping to see an expanded menu and a facelift in the future.
So yummy! We tried the fried rice, chow Mein, the pork/sauerkraut dumplings, & wonton soup
The server was friendly and accommodating. The food was nicely presented and reasonably good, but we were served one dish at a time over a period of about half an hour. The side dish of kimchi was disappointing compared with what I have eaten in Korea. Vegetarian options: Options are limited, especially for a vegan. The vegetable chow mein was mostly noodles with a few vegetable pieces. The vegetable fried rice was OK.
Really lovely little restaurant run by a husband and wife team. We got the beef and green kale dumplings, pork and cabbage dumplings, vegetable chow mein, and fried chicken drumsticks. Everything was delicious, homemade, and nicely presented.Recommendation for vegetariansSomewhat recommendVegetarian offeringsVegetarian menu or section
When I saw this place open, I was excited! The dumplings are delicious and the kimchi is very refreshing. The sauce they serve is alright but they are more than happy to provide you with dark vinegar upon request.
I want to love this place. The ambience is homey, warm and welcoming. The staff are friendly and efficient. There's a great-looking menu of a variety of foods. Unfortunately the things I ordered were disappointing: - The Mexican wrap was pretty sawdust-y. Salt made it edible. - The daily soup a "cream" of vegetable was bland, and the salt did not help. - The grilled cheese was almost burnt, and the bitter charring of the bread overwhelmed any flavour the small amount of cheese might have provided. - The side salad was drenched in grocery-store maybe-balsamic vinaigrette, rendering it inedible. I will be back - the home-made iced tea and the coffee was good - but I'll be eating something different, with low expectations. UPDATE: went in for breakfast this morning, and had one of the best eggs Benny ever! Their version with local smoked salmon is excellent. Stars notched up.
REVIEW EDITED TO REFLECT BUSINESS CHANGE: WOW!!! These dumplings are absolutely DIVINE!!! And so fairly priced. The chow mein is very tasty too! ... This place quickly became our breakfast go to spot whenever we come to town for groceries. We look forward to our Gecko Tree dates! Love that it is family friendly. Great atmosphere lots of beautiful art. Food is just too good.. price seems a bit high but the portion sizes totally make up for it, they're huge. And everything tastes so delicious. Even the coffee!! Always friendly service. Such a great spot, so happy to have found it
Deciding to visit WL for the annual medieval market we stopped here first after the drive. It was busy but the staff were attentive and ready to get us seated and dated. Not able to make up my mind the server suggested the BLT and I figured it's a safe bet usually. It shows up and I actually swore, remarking on the massive size of the thing. This actually gave me the initial impression that I was going to be disappointed, until I looked closer. The thick slices of bread looked house made, it was full, I mean, Ron Swanson levels full of bacon... And good bacon, clearly not supermarket stuff. I'll admit I only managed to get half finished, the other half barely fit into the carry out container. Go hungry or share and don't forget to order a hot buttered rum, which is the best one I've ever tasted.
A bit of a long wait, but absolutely worth it. Friendly staff and great food! There was enough food to take home and have it for another meal as well
