I enjoy visiting Gathers Tea Bar for their wide variety of drinks available. I typically order Thai Teas, Matcha Lattes, or Brown Sugar Milk Tea Lattes—iced and hot are equally enjoyable. The drinks are easily customizable with many different toppings and add ins to include. I love that a fun limited variety of drinks are available for seasonal holidays such as Valentine’s or St. Patrick’s Day. You can tell that a significant amount of precision goes into curating each drink, ingredients are weighed and measured on a food scale to ensure quality and reproducibility by each barista. The only downside is that their hot drinks are not offered in a large size—it would be great if it is offered in the future! Regardless, the quality, care, and taste at Gathers keeps me coming back :-
Love this place! The bubble teas are really authentic and flavorful. The ratio of the tea, milk, and ice are perfect and the bubbles are sweet and not too soft. I would definitely recommend the rose tieguanyin milk tea at 75% sweetness.
First time visiting and would definitely go again! Love the menu and different options. Staff was friendly and super helpful. They seemed really busy and it was fun to watch them make the drinks while we waited. I got the jasmine green tea with lychee jellies at 25% sweetness. My sister got the passionfruit jasmine green tea at 50% sweetness. Similar to what I would order at Gongcha but with better flavor! Would love to try their other drinks in the future!
Try the Brown Sugar Matcha Latte, 100% would highly recommend. Usually I’m not a big fan of matcha but their matcha just hits different, they just make it work. I usually grab a drink before I study, a bit more motivation to get things done. <3
THE BEST boba tea I’ve ever had And the people were so nice too! They gave me great suggestions as it was my first time at this shop. I tried the Brown Sugar Assam Milk tea. Highly recommend if you’re a boba tea fan!
My favorite boba place in Chicago!! They have a great tea selection and the tea taste is strong in their drinks. I love their golden boba, which is always made perfectly. Their dairy free creamer and oat milk options are great. I usually order one of their premium milk teas and will sometimes get a fruit tea or latte. I've never had a drink I didn't like there.
Small restaurant and tea bar new location being built for them down the street staff was very nice and helpful. They have a good selection but I stuck to Thai tea, roasted oolong milk tea, and genmaicha brown rice tea milk tea. The Thai tea is not the same you get at the hole in wall thai/Chinese restaurant, which is a sickly sweet slightly thick beverage with a hint of tea. Those are good every now and then. This Thai tea is tea with spices added then 1/2+1/2. Which is the traditional way. ITS SOOO GOOD! It is not overtly sweet and has a good cinnamon after taste. Definitely worth a try. The milk tea here is a bit diffrent then some other places. That being when another place make tea like normal the adds milk to the cup, watering down the tea with milk. They use non-dairy creamer which apperently is more traditional. The roasted oolong milk tea had a strong roasted flavor. After a couple sips you get use to it and the oolong flavor pops more. The genmaicha brown rice tea is similar to Korean barley tea. A bit roasted with a cereal grain taste. I have heard it described as rice crispy milk before. It has some sweetness that compliments its flavor. If your wanting to try something new it would be worth a shot. Over all great tea, prices are higher bit on par with area, amazing service.
Hands down one of the best boba places ever. The Assam milk tea with golden bubbles is my favorite. But I'm sure everything on their menu is good !! It's a must try place! The place is tiny so look closely for their sign because it's really easy to miss if you are just driving by. More importantly, the employees are just so nice and will take the time to walk you through the menu.
Tried a Hojicha Sesame Latte, 75% sweet, with boba. Absolutely delicious and highly recommended. The teas here are imported from all over the world. Hojicha is like a less bitter, more earthy version of matcha. Great service as well!
The best bubble tea in Chicago! Everything is made fresh to order and the boba is the right consistency. Personally I don't like boba but I always make an exception for them since they make it just right. The location is in a sushi restaurant since the owners uncle gave him some space to start this business. This spot is a must visit for anyone who loves bubble tea. The owner is super friendly and makes sure to provide regular updates on Instagram too.
