Such a cool and iconic spot in Vancouver! The Gastown Steam Clock might look vintage, but it was actually built in 1977. It’s one of the few steam-powered clocks in the world and it runs on steam from the city’s underground heating system. Every 15 minutes it whistles, and on the hour it plays a little tune while steam comes out super fun to watch. ⏰nnIt’s small but full of character, and the historic Gastown streets around it make it the perfect place for pictures. Definitely a must see when you’re exploring the area!
A very cool gem of the city to see! It’s very cool to hear the clock go off, and also to get up close to the clock to really see the magic. Know that it will be packed around the clock, most likely, but feel free to go up to the actual clock and really see the inner workings of it. Definitely make sure to check out the street it’s on as there are a ton of shops and local history nearby.
The Gastown Steam Clock is such a cool little landmark. It’s classic Gastown historic, charming and a mustsee for anyone visiting the area.Watching it whistle and release steam on the hour is surprisingly satisfying, and the surrounding cobblestone streets make it a really picturesque spot. Even if it’s touristy, it has that unique charm that makes it worth checking out. Perfect for a quick stop, some photos, and soaking in a bit of Vancouver history. It whistles every 15 mins, definitely worth the wait. :P
It’s one of those landmarks that’s simple, iconic, and surprisingly fun—especially if you time it right and catch it “performing.” The clock whistles/steams on the quarter-hour, and the little crowd moment that happens around it makes it feel like a mini event every time. Great spot for photos, quick videos, and a memorable “we were here” stop.nnThe area around it is lively, walkable, and full of shops and cafes, so it’s easy to work into an afternoon in Gastown. It does get crowded, but the turnover is quick and it’s open 24/7, so you can swing by early morning or later at night for a calmer experience.nnIf you’re visiting Vancouver, it’s worth a stop—quick, free, and genuinely charming.
A charming and iconic spot in the heart of Gastown.nThe steam clock has a unique character, and watching it release steam and play its whistle is a lovely experience, especially for first-time visitors.nnThe surrounding area is full of character with historic buildings, cafés, and great photo opportunities. It can get busy, but that’s part of the atmosphere. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re exploring Vancouver.
