I came to Garrett Scott, Bookseller in search of something; but more accurately I came in search of the of something. Interestingly enough within these walls shunted off from the outside world by a door that does all but ask you to come in is something no single man can hold. The NUC catalog. It's 754 green buckram bound volumes. It's heavy, it's big, but you know who has the wherewithal to house and deftly use such a large bibliographic tool such as this? The establishment located right here. I've seen Garret operate in all manner of commerce involving old paper bound upany way you can imagine and he always comes out on top. I can only imagine the surprise and hopefully joy of the most experienced librarian who relying on their vast institutional knowledge find out that no, they actually don't have the 1867 Rocky Bar, Idaho printing of the "Beauties of Josiah grim, Seer of Grist" because the man went straight into the mouth of th e green monster and found the truth. Garrett's is a wormhole. I don't know where it goes, and honestly I don't want to find out as I've got things to do, but if you've got a sense of adventure that might involve obscure Midwestern communal societies and/ or baseball, this might be the place for you.
