Contemporary Canadian Art and a collection of Historical Canadian and International Art

Story

Founded in 1995 by Marlaise and David Dawson, Gallery on the Bay is located in a building that was once the headquarters of a Steel Company, then a school, then a union hall in the 80's and 90's, then briefly a gym, and now the home to artists, writers, filmmakers, and musicians.

Gallery on the Bay features the best local, regional and contemporary Canadian Art in a relaxing and congenial atmosphere of Tropical Plants and a Cappuccino Bar.

Nice place for a nice hiking
The building needs a paint job but the art featured is usually well done and anywhere from $1200-5,000
They have such an incredible variety of artwork by some very talented Canadian artists. I just saw their historical collection which is also really great! They have George Wallace, Kathy Kollwitz and Leonard Baskin original works and more! This gallery is a definite must see when you are in the city!
great place to visit
It's actually not a regular gathering place, but open only for special viewing, and it's guests invite friends, maybe once a month
