The gallery is closed. the owner was certainly interesting and charming and well-informed in all areas of art. He was also a one-sentence mention in the biography of the doors cuz he did some promo work in Vancouver when they performances are back in the day. It's my understanding that he had a lot of back taxes and he wasn't treating people honestly and ended up in court a couple of times and as a result place ended up closed. Too bad he was a smart guy very charming had a lot of interesting artwork and could have made a go of this but maybe he just went really wasn't this businessman in that sense of the word. It was a great location that everybody said to me, every time we go by there and even try to go in it's always closed and that certainly would drive away business wouldn't it!? So we definitely didn't have a head for business. Too bad. The place was repossessed some other guy moved in made it a home and now looks like a home in the galleries. my associate broker offices in general insurance used to ensure the building and The business, so I know it very well. It was a wonderful landmark that lasted over a decade and he even fixed up a beautiful terrace on top of the gallery outside. I enjoyed the friendship for a few years and was disappointed with how it ended and I definitely had to pull the plug four issues of my integrity being threatened publicly. truly a pity that he couldn't do proper business and keep the gallery open and maintain his own personal integrity in the process. But life is hard and I know he went through a lot simself. It's a landmark art of exit 28th and Hudson and up the hill just passed and across from the ultramar and sharing an area with nice restaurants and then ice cream joints all in the countryside next door and its demise is a sad event . Long live gallery hardwood.
