I felt I should share my FYI experience in hope that maybe it will lead to some changes in the way they practice. Being fairly new to the area, I take pride in my belief of shopping local. So I decided on the local eye Dr to get my visual needs looked after. Started off decent enough, eye exam, purchase glasses, but they have to work on customer service. From the very first time I was fitted with my new glasses, I told them I couldn't see out of the one eye. It was blurry, worse than 3 year old pair. The glasses did not get any better over the next few weeks so I returned to the office. Immediately I was told that I should get a more expensive pair of lenses. It took me almost 4 months to save up the money I had already spent . I made it quite clear that I was not spending any more until the problem was fixed.So the glasses were sent away. I was given another I another eye exam. But nothing changed. I was told that I would be contacted within a week. It was well over 2 weeks before I heard from them from them finally I just asked if I could have my money back. I was refunded half of what I had spent there. I went to another eye doctor and they were much more thorough and found the reason for my issues. I guess it was a learning experience that sometimes it's not always good to shop local.
My husband always has good luck here but my glasses are always slow arriving. I was also a bit upset that I was immediately shown the budget frames - it was as if a decision was made about my financial status based on nothing but my appearance. It was rather humiliating to be honest. In the meantime I watched a well to do customer get excellent service while be showing the full range of frames. Clearly she looked more worthwhile than I did.
A sincere thank-you to Angelina in the Wolfville office. I was totally satisfied with her expertise and accommodating attitude. As busy as they were on the two occasions in which she worked with me, I did not feel rushed, but very valued as a customer. Many thanks Angelina!
I had the absolute best experience shopping for my new glasses, simply because I was in the capable hands of Misty. She’s very professional, patient and honest. She took her time explaining everything, never rushed me. For an old person it was refreshing to be treated like we matter. Thank you Misty.
I have had such wonderful inviting experiences with FYI doctors in wolfville! Both of my eye doctors have been exquisite and all the lovely help from everyone. Jane always sets me up with the most perfect glasses and she's truly a delight to work with! She actually cares about the glasses that suit your face and she's a hoot. You will have many laughs while getting your new eye accessories and leave with a smile on your face Thank you everyone so much for such great care and service. It doesn't go unnoticed.
I used to really like this location, but their service has really declined under the FYI banner and with all of the pandemic restrictions. Reduced hours, not returning calls, staff way too busy and stressed out. I decided to get glasses elsewhere and they wouldn't even send my Rx to the opticians. Techs and doctors always provide quality care though.
Always impressed with the service at this location, from Dr Pothier who did my eye exam to the dispensers who helped me pick out my new frames. I wish I had gotten the name of the dispenser who helped me Saturday morning as she was incredibly helpful and made the entire experience so easy. I will definitely continue to purchase all my family's eyewear here.
I have been going to one ophthalmologist here, for 38 years but the experience with getting my glasses adjusted recently has been horrendous. After some adjustment in past few months due to my glasses getting damaged, I persisted and told Dr. when I saw him recently and he spoke to technician. This led to 4 adjustments over a 2 week period , but glasses were still not right. I asked about a machine that would bring them to the level of when first made. I have since gone to another FYI location and have succeeded. It is so wonderful to be able to see properly and have my glasses feel comfortable again.
Love my optometrist I have been going here for over 12 years. However I will never buy glasses there again. The sales staff are pushy, disorganized, and in one case rude. The prices are near double what I would pay elsewhere. And I would pay it for quality product and service. My most recent experience was that the glasses and sunglasses I ordered were not fit for purpose. I was sent home with sunglasses that I couldn’t read with and when driving I couldn’t read road signs or clearly see objects in my path. My daily glasses were so incorrect that they didn’t even bother trying them on but sent them back. The problem was a result of staff error. I returned the sunglasses and refused delivery of the other glasses. I requested and obtained a full refund of over 1200 not including my insurers contribution. I no longer have any confidence in their service
I've been going to my optometrist in this building for probably 20- 25 years now long before they became FYidoctors, and he is phenomenal, very knowledgeable and always professional. I have never had a poor experience or problems with the eye exams and subsequent tests... my problem with this company is the sales staff on the floor. These are highly-trained salespeople and the prices can be insane by the time they're done their upselling. Last time I tried to buy just the lenses here for frames I purchased from them 2019, they told me that the lenses were around $250 which I believe is around what I paid for the lenses and frames last time with more coatings on them. When I asked why just the single-vision lenses were so much, I was quickly told that for that price I would qualify for free frames, to get me to buy now. Didn't want frames, just wanted to pay a fair price to have my lenses replaced in the frames I already love. So, unfortunately I ended up online to buy a new pair of glasses for 1/3 the price. Are the glasses as good? No, the optics are not, but at least I felt like I was paying for a product that reflected the cost of making it and not roped into some sales gimmicks to sell me more. I'd love to support local, but I'm afraid I will never buy a pair of glasses here again, but I will definitely recommend them for your eye exams.
