What an amazing experience! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit! The staff are incredible - Chad was so knowledgeable and fun telling us about bush craft! Brenda and Tyson showed us how to make maple taffy and maple sugar, and Scott was fascinating to listen to for stories and history! Shirley and Vicki are super nice in the store - Shirley is the owner and told us about products and gave us some samples. Couldn’t have asked for a better outing - definitely surpassed our expectations!
The experience probably varies depending whether you go on a weekend or weekday. We went on a weekday; they were one of the few open during the week. Although we went a little early for the season, we had an enjoyable time walking their trails. We bumped into a staff who explained their sap collecting process and technology to us. We stopped by the shop before and after for snacks. Highly recommend trying the maple pepperettes. The maple fudge and maple tarts are worth a try too.
Fulton Maple Bush is a MUST to visit place when you go to Ottawa or if you live in Ottawa. Scott Fulton himself, explained to us the whole process of how to extract the maple out of the trees and how his family has been taken care of this amazing farm for 6 generations. Thanks
Really fun experience overall! The sleigh ride was magical. Maple taffy on snow was on point. Gift shop had a good selection of treats and even cute mittens! Trail map was confusing no indication of where you are. Couldn’t find the blue trail. I also wish there was more ways to pay - sleigh ride was cash only and no ATM on site. No place to sit and eat lunch.
We were looking to stock up on maple goods and were estatic to visit Fulton's 'new' shop! They have such great variety ranging from food, sauces, candy and body care. We bought a dozen of products at great prices with the exception of maple taffy – $3 a piece is expensive and we got to visit the area and take a few pictures. I wish I would've picked up more than one lip balm, it's unique and smells heavenly. Hoping to eventually visit when the pancake house is open again!
Me and my family had so much fun in the Maple Farm since it was the end of the season there were no activities so we asked for a tour of how is the Maple is made and Scott gave us the best Maple tour guide, we also got some products from the shop. My favorite is the mini cheesecakes with maple sauce Thanks for the great experience!
Great family outing in the early spring. Early meaning when there's still lots of snow but the days are getting warm enough for the maple sap to flow. Younger kids will love the outdoor play area and the sleigh rides. And of course kids love maple taffy.
We had such a pleasant family morning at Fulton's! There's a nice playground for the kids, small hill for sledding, trails, horses, and of course, taffy $3 and pancakes! The pancakes are a bit pricey $12 for 2 pancakes and bacon on Feb 2020 but there's unlimited organic maple syrup and also amazing service, live music who interacts with the public and children and all the structure on site! It was worth the visit and we'll come back for sure. We got there early 9am and it was not too busy, but it got busier when we left around 11:30am.
We liked the experience. Learned a lot about maple syrup making from old days to present time. Very welcoming and friendly family farmers.Went for a walk in the winter forest, had a sleigh ride, ate some pancakes pancakes can take less mixing and brought home some organic syrup. On the way back we stopped at the Dieffenbunker . Together they make a great 1 day trip from Ottawa.
Fulton's is always a treat to visit: A large dining room ensures many people can not only enjoy a meal and conversation, but meet new people, too. The educational aspects are as fantastic as the staff, with genuine historic tools, artifacts & tree slices, showing the history of tapping. Though we didn't do it this time, the horse-drawn sleigh ride really is the perfect cap toque? : to any visit.
