A wonderful opportunity to step back in Time - it's a lovely Mansion to Admire from outside but I would highly recommend taking the tour. Our tour guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and it was very interesting learning the details about this family which was a Cornerstone of the Brockville community.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
visited feb 20th 2023, it was open. Entrance by the left side of the mansion. Entrance fee by donation. The self visit was spectacular. Details architectural was spectacular. The whole family loved it.Visited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Such a beautiful place, I could just imagine what it was like living there. Reminds me of an old movie and it makes me happy. When I was there it was under construction I believe for its 100th year, next year, pretty cool.
Our tour guide, Martha, was very informative and energetic! The Historical Society has maintained the mansion and grounds with care and dedication! To think millionaire Fulford made his fortune with little Pink Pills! A beautiful homestead on the banks of the St. Lawrence River. A must see!
The house is really well preserved and what an awesome experience. Our tour guide Madeleine I believe was super knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the history of the house. We loved our experience and this was truly the highlight of our trip in Brockville. The Fulford Place is a must see if you are visiting. Also they appear to do ghost tours at night, so be on the look out if you are interested.
About half the place is under restoration with many rooms inaccessible and items in storage. Would have been nice to be forewarned about this rather than waste our time to see almost nothing. This was in early July. Even the gardens were unkempt and down right ugly and the outside walkways and stairs full of debris. Paint peeling all around and looked no better than an old abandoned building. Should not be open to the public without full disclosure that the place is in complete disarray inside and out. Had previously visited with another person a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it back then. The guide was informative and told great stories about the family history. Looked forward to that again for my elderly mother and was quite disappointed as this guide mumbled through her memorized script in a flat voice so low that we could not hear her, especially my mother. After multiple times asking to speak louder we gave up trying. Very disappointed with the cold reception a well. This was not worth our time or money to visit at this time.
The museum is wonderful and I still recommend a tour. I deducted a star because I personally feel the tour is rushed. There were 10 of us in a group on a Wednesday afternoon. I thought it would be smaller mid-week but nope. We had to crowd around the tour guide, take turns reading the information and by then the tour was moving along and you missed a lot. The tour guide was a young girl who spoke WAY TOO QUICKLY and not loud enough for a group our size. When she spoke to the crowd on the left, she turned her head away and those on the right missed some of her talking. The large rooms don’t help with echos. We were finished in 47 minutes and this seemed to only gloss over the information. The price is right but group sizes should be limited.
Lots of great history and artefacts. Tour was rushed as there were so many folks there. If there is a bus in the parking lot...I suggest waiting.
Really neat history museum! Only $6 entrance fee too. Go check it out!
I just had a fantastic tour with the very knowledgeable Leah. I’m sure all of the guides are fantastic, but if you are lucky enough to get her you are in for a fabulous time as she leads you through not just a house, but the layers of intrigue that existed in Brockville in the first part of the the 1900s!
