Frick & Frack Taphouse

I go to Frick & Frack quite frequently and my entire family always chooses this place for all of our party dinners. The food is great and very large portion sizes and we usually have good service as well. I have previously written a 5* review for this Restaurant, but after our experience last night, I'm not sure that I will ever be returning. Last night, thirteen of us attended for a birthday dinner for my cousin. We had a waitress named Kayla who wouldn't crack a smile for the life of her and was overall, not pleasant. She brought a kid's menu over to the table and I had asked for crayons to keep my five year old niece occupied, but I had to ask THREE separate times and by the time I got them our food was almost ready to be brought out. I was only drinking water throughout the night and also asked for a refill three separate times and not once did I receive one. After we got our food, my young cousin, who is a picky eater, asked if the Ketchup was Heinz brand and she told him it was, but explained that they just put it in different bottles. He then asked if he could get it replaced with a cold bottle of ketchup. She replaced it and then went to her Manager to tell her that we were a difficult table. Shortly after, the Manager came to our table and abruptly said "Okay, what's going on here, because none of you guys seem to be having a good time, so what's the deal?" Now, I understand that her intentions were in the right place, but as a Manager she should know that there are far better ways to approach the situation. My other cousin brought a "cupcake style" cake for his mom (the birthday lady), and after we finished our dinner, the waitress brought out a cake, but to our shock it was the wrong one. My cousin mentioned to the waitress three times that it was the WRONG CAKE, then I told her again that it was the wrong one, and once again my boyfriend told her it was the wrong one and she nodded and walked away. My cousin got up to go talk to her and asked why she walked away after we all told her that it was the wrong cake, and she told him "Well, you said you brought a cake, not cupcakes - there's a big difference." She was being very rude and my cousin wasn't handling the situation the best so another guest at our table got up to speak to the waitress, but the waitress cut her off mid sentence and said "Listen, B**ch, he said he brought a cake and he didn't! He brought cupcakes!" At this point we were all furious and the Manager came back out and basically tried to defend their error by saying that we should have told them that they were cupcakes, despite the fact that the waitress took it to the back from my cousin when he walked in. She knew what he brought. In the beginning, no apology was made by the Manager, just constant excuses, and I would expect far more from a Manager. Their "solution" to the problem was to bring out the cupcakes and comp the birthday meal, which is already free for guests on their birthday. So, basically, they weren't willing to do anything. They kicked my cousin out of the restaurant for foul language (understandably so), but had no comment on the foul language that the waitress had used towards us. In the end, they said that they would bring out the cupcakes, but "apparently" they fell on the floor so they were unable to bring them out after all so she told us all to go home and have a good night. She did give the birthday lady a $20 GC to the restaurant, but that doesn't even cover the cost of the cake. Overall, an absolutely horrible experience and I would expect that the Manager gets better training on how to manage and that waitress should be gone. I will never go back as long as Kayla is working there and I will make sure that every other guest at the party writes their review as well.

I always enjoy my food, and it has a great vibrant atmosphere. Fishbowl Fridays are my favourite.

Not a fan of their "international" menu. Generic pub food otherwise and service is typical of a Kamloops bar; if you're not ordering alcohol prepare to be gently pushed out the door as quickly as possible. Half decent selection of imports.

Service was good given the fact they were extremely busy. However, i asked the waitress for a specific dish, she exclaimed it was her favorite. It was an easy sell, however, the sauce on the butter chicken dish tasted more like spicy ketchup rather than the traditional curry taste. When ordering, i told her i literally grow hot peppers myself and can handle heat, she said the mild is good enough...not whatsoever. Great atmosphere, great service, improve the food and this restaurant is a five star restaurant.

Great place to eat. Staff very friendly. Food is great and service time is great.
