If I could, I would give Franklin's a 3.5 instead of a 3. The service is friendly, the decor is unique not often will you have a wall covered in old Playboy magazines, its open late, and the food isn't bad. It's just not that great, and not that fresh. A few little tweaks here and there could help this place take off better quality buns for the cheesesteaks and hot dogs, slightly fresher toppings, a unique ingredient or two to add to the pretty basic poutine. Also, I actually came here because of the variety of cool milkshake options on their menu, only to find out they weren't serving milkshakes at all a pretty big letdown. Would I come here again if I was desperate? Yea, I would. But it wouldn't be a mainstay.
A great place to wander into looking for some grub. Bartenders are attentive without being intrusive, food was great and the drinks are strong and delicious. Open windows allows the breeze to flow in on a warm evening, preventing the place from feeling too stuffy with the recent heat waves. The music is a tad loud, but matches well with the whole vibe of the place. Will definitely come back the next time I'm in Montreal.
Came here in the summer when I visited montreal and came here on a whim when passing by So glad we got to come here as the decor is super unique with one wall lined with oldmm by playboy magazines and lots of neon lights and an old arcade machine in the back by the dove like washrooms Food was decent too! I had the montreal smoked meat sub alongside a key lime pie milkshake. Meat was tasty and very flavourful and the milkshake was on point with the taste of the pie flavour in every sip A nice little bar feel with a big tv right in the middle of the bar so you can watch any games or events while enjoying your food with a nice cold one! Service was awesome as it was my family Ali g with another family and the waitress was great! Super attentive to our needs and everyone friendly Great job overall! Stopped in for drinks and a bite to eat. The staff was very nice. The place was just hot inside, food was just ok, the drinks tasted good but not so strong. Staff was very helpful so that helped.
I visited on 7/9/22 and had a blast at this place! Very friendly staff who took great care of me. It was a very busy weekend and I know they were working very hard, but they kept smiling and made me laugh while I sat at the bar. Franklin's has a great relaxed atmosphere and is a fun place to hang out and have a burger and a drink.
I had the Montreal smoked meat poutine. It was really good and was offered at a reasonable price. The staff was fun, kind, and English friendly. 100% would recommend.
The inside had cool features. Alcoholic drinks were great! Food was served hot and promptly. Philly steak sandwich was great and tasty. Smoked meat poutine was delicious. Wanted another round of drinks but you pay up front. Once food order is dropped that's it, no follow ups.
This place is a gem. Great food and beverage. 90s rap playing in the background. Their sub was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in some time. And who doesn’t like the old Playboy covers that exquisitely decorate the wall.
Liveliest place for a drink on Rue St Paul in Old Montreal, especially after the fine dining places start closing down. Fun people working there. Good pub food, including the poutine.
Very lovely ambient. Friendly staff. Delicious food. I trusted our JP, our waiter, for recommending from the menu and he didn't disappoint us.
