We went here for lunch today with high expectations. The cashier was competent, very sweet and well mannered, but Frank was very short with her and just kind of rude. Also it took a while for our food took a while to get done. When it was finished the buns were soggy and the fries weren't done. It was pretty disappointing.
Their beef sandwich with cheese and hot giardiniera is amazing. Their pita fries are also good and are a creative idea. The owner is very warm and friendly. I really like the humble atmosphere. I think that I will come here often.
I'm a tough critic, and I've only been there twice. But the hot dogs are too small in diameter, when you order the Chicago dog you get more tomato than you do hot dog. The gyro was really good, I haven't had one from anywhere else before. When there are more than 5 people in the restaurant the staff is visibly flustered and yelling at each other about dumb things. Such as stop taking orders so quickly.
Way less than satisfied. Went in for a couple of Chicago style hotdogs. Let me start off by saying the food was great. I wouldn’t be writing this but there was a staff member who was atrocious. It was a taller kid with curly hair. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted so I was waiting for a little bit and he proceeded to ask me “are you going to order anything?” This wasn’t all that bad but a little rude at most. But that’s not where it ends. The kid would not stop coming to my table to ask how the food was about 5 times. Then later on in my eating he started taking trash outnot a big dealbut he was being very uncomfortably loud. In conclusion I would order to go from franks franks but not eat in when that employee is working.
This place is not fancy but boy is it great. If you have ever been to Chicago to Nana's or Gene & Judes you will fall in love with the hot dogs and Italian beef here. Hoping he will open another restaurant near Davis or Durand He would do quite well here.
The food is easily the star for Frank's Franks, whether its a Hot dog, Gyro or even the pizza, the food is generally always good. They have also catered an event or two for my work and can first hand say that it was always well worth it. The staff could stand to be a bit more friendly and polished, but it hasn't deterred me away from their food.
Great little place. First time here. I ordered 2 chili dogs fries and soda for just a little over 7 dollars. They are amazing. Plus on Tuesdays it is 2 dollar hotdogs for any on the board. I will be back again for sure.
The only thing good here was the cheese curds curds. Everything we ordered they were out of and the hotdogs were served ice cold and soggy. They tasted like chlorine and were pretty awful. The soda machine was out of everything except for Dr. Pepper and the whole place was pretty filthy. We definitely won't be back. What a waste of time and money!
