A great experience on the drink and the food. We had the scotch egg….ginormous and delicious!!!! The in house made pies were excellent. I had the steak and kidney pie and opted for mashed instead of salad. The pastry top was so light and fluffy. My partner in dine had the shepherds pie, and it was 2 up. Another table ordered the seafood pie and pacific rock fish dinners and the portions were very substantial. Only downside was the service, it started off great but I think there was a changeover in shifts. From there we had to grab someone’s attention for drink refills and eventually for the bill. Oh well. What we came for … the food… did not disappoint.
Another really great experience here the second time around. Burgers were big, beef dip was spot on, fries were hot and yummy and beer keep coming. Servers were also very attentive. It's worth the stop for sure.
English pub design and fare. We were greeted by friendly staff, they even had Innis and Gunn on tap!! I had the chicken, bacon and brie burger with fries, delicious. My wife had the beef dip and fries, was very good, she couldn’t even eat half! The pub is a very cool place and we will be sure to return next time we are in Ladysmith.
Stepped in for late dinner, from the outside you wouldn't really get what this place feels like. Beer was good, food was good. Service was good. Feels was awesome. Definitely felt like we stepped into an English bar. If we stay here again in Ladysmith I will stop by for sure
We had dinner at this wonderful English style pub restaurant in Ladysmith called the Fox and Hound. Robin had a very generously portioned and yummy seafood salad and I had a grilled chicken breast with some amazing mushroom sauce with perfectly done asparagus and mashed potatoes. I even had an amazing toffee pudding desert. I recommend this place highly and will certainly be back.
My father and I went there last night after checking out the Christmas lights . Been there before - always a fantastic experience , great food, atmosphere and people. Make sure you have one of the pies offered - I had the Moroccan and my dad the chicken. I highly recommend this English flavoured pub !
My brother and I came in on a whim last week for a bite on our way up to Parksville and I’m so glad we did! We loved the food, drink and service so much that we brought our parents back for lunch yesterday. Both times it was just a bartender/server and server on and I was blown away at how wonderfully they handled the busy room. Our server was especially fantastic; so genuinely friendly, kind, and took such great care. I wish I’d caught her name so I could properly shout her out! Can’t wait to come back again and try the pies :
Might have been a one-off, but they only brought out our food for two of our three dinners. It took them a very long time to realize an error and he didn't end up receiving his food until the other two were already done eating. They did apologize and gave a small discount. Otherwise the atmosphere is what you would expect from an English pub and the food was decent but expensive. Portions are on the large size.
Our server Ashley was pretty much the best. Offered some off-menu options and was able to read the table well. Food was great too. We had a lot of fun tonight
My only complaint is they were sold out of the items we wanted to eat. Nonetheless the other options we chose were good, and the value is exceptionally high compared to other restaurants. Nowadays you can’t find a burger under $15. The burger here was $18 and some change. There are several options on the menu with small and large sizes which is nice for seniors, or anyone not wanting a large meal. Front end staff were helpful with describing menu items. The burgers come with salad and fries - no extra charge. They have several gluten free options, including a bun that came with my burger entree. The beef dip from what I heard is exceptional and what we were looking forward to. Was also hoping to try the chili but that was also sold out. I will return to give these a try. The fries - both sweet potato and potato are fried nicely and have a good crisp to them. Everything tasted fresh. The restaurant was clean and so were the bathrooms. Will be back next time I’m in Ladysmith!
