We went for a family celebration meal and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the meal. We all ordered cocktails before the meal and everyone was thrilled with theirs. We then talked to our server, and with taking into account our family's many dietary restrictions, the chef put together a fantastic dinner of shareplates. Altogether a fantastic experience. The only downside is that the tables are close together, so it is not a very intimate dining experience. Dietary restrictions: We were able to have a meal that was gluten free and corn free.
Better to come as a group to try many of their dishes. Some dishes were okay others had incredible flavour and was quite rich. Favourite dish was surprisingly the soft shell crab! The ambiance and decor of this restaurant was amazing! I would say it’s a little too dark for my liking at night we could barely see the food. A little overpriced for the food portion but you can really see the time and effort they took for each plating.
Fantastic new Latin restaurant from Syndicate Hospitality Group same owners as Orchard and Shelter located in warehouse that was previously Booker's Crab Shack. Dishes incorporate fresh ingredients and dishes are beautifully presented with a modern twist. Portions are fair and menu encourages sharing and sampling small plates. Would strongly encourage reservations especially for Thursday/Friday night.
A fantastic spot with a modern decor that is very inviting, comfortable, and appeals to the romantics. The service was top notch and we enjoyed their recommendations. Cocktails were unique and memorable. The food has flawless presentation and was very fun to eat as family style share plates. The only thing I can say is while very pretty to look at, I wish the flavor was a little more intense. Found everything to be on the lighter side on taste. Really enjoyed our time here. Parking: The parking lot outside is still unfinished at time of writing. Kind of dusty and muddy.
Gunna be back for sure. We tried a large assortment of dishes that we really enjoyed from snacks and small plates. But there is MORE that we know will be delicious. Service was really great. However I didn’t enjoy being held exactly to a 2 hour limit when dropping over $250 for 2 people. That being said we did get moved to a nice lounge area.
I was enjoying this restraunt so much that I started eating some of the dishes before I snapped a photo of them... that's how I know it was 5 star level of good. Very interesting and fresh concept for craft cocktails in Calgary. The food is predominantly set up as a sharing menu so it pays off to come with enough people that you can order a good number of dishes to sample different foods from different Latin American regions. Highly recommend every dish I had and don't be afraid of the Wasabi cocktail, it is really really good.
A truly immersive and innovative experience from the moment you walk through the front doors. The modern, stylish, fresh and open space of the cocktail area, and the vastness of the dining room is inviting. The drinks are innovative and simple, with a focus around one key ingredient, my favourite was the white chocolate. Each dish we ordered was presented outstandingly, and all are great for sharing. My favourites are the esquites, and arepa. The cocktail space is comfortable and open on a first come, first serve basis. Great spot to pop in for a cocktail.
Came to Fortuna's row bar after a 9 1/2 hours flight from the UK staying at the Hilton this restaurant is about 300-400 m away from the hotel. The restaurant is disabled friendly it has access the lounge is pretty loud however walking into the restaurant area it's more subdued and easily can hold a conversation. During my time here I was introduced to a new cocktail called Jasna`s creative special, dosent actually have a name. A grapefruit alcoholic cocktail, citrus and sweet. This restaurant nailed it! What an experience. From the moment you walk in you are absolutely swept away to another place. The lighting, ambience and decor had me absolutely taken and then we sat to eat and let the chef guide us through the menu this is an option on the bottom right of the menu and I would suggest it. For the amount of food we got with the guided tasting and cocktails it's was absolutely wonderful and fairly priced. Great staff! Great washrooms! Fantastic experience overall and I will.definitely be back. Reservations are required on weekends and trust me it is so worth it! My favourite dishes were the Ceviche - the Marrow - the fish "tacos" - the rib eye was to die for and the key lime ice cream. I would also suggest getting the bread! I can't say enough about it.
Calgary is Fortunate to have this new restaurant. Food speaks for itself. Bookers Crab Shack to Contemporary Latin Supper Club. Venue is something else. They spared no expense with the extensive renovations. Sat at bar as we did not have a reservation. Andrew the mixologist was very helpful and surprised us with some great cocktails. Top pick is the Rose and Clove Pork Belly Taco was a great portion consisted of lean and fatty layers. Esquites Bone marrow corn was very creamy and full of flavour. Pato Duck was juicy and tender. Plate is quite large with Lots of Green rice for sharing. Highly recommend and Will be back.
