Have adopted from WHARF, run by Ashley and Tessa, who are caring and deeply committed to the animals in their temporary care. We visit regularly. Have adopted three lovely animals from them; two cats and one dog. In each instance, we were allowed to take the animals home to ensure they fit with our family in our home, so much better than a false "visiting room" some rescues offer. I cannot recommend WHARF enough. We love our WHARF furballs. We love how carefully the furballs are cared for and adopted only to good matches.
Very disappointed with the staff's lack of knowledge on puppy teething. I specifically asked if the very expensive Yak milk chew treats were designed for a teething puppy. I was assured they were, and that they would last a long time. My 3 month old broke it into dangerous splinters within seconds. I will never spend money at this shop again.
I raised a concern with the employee regarding the temperature of the suite, and the health concerns it poses for such young animals. I was immediately dismissed. Recognizing that this was not the owner, I chose to contact her directly via telephone. Unfortunately, Ashley, the Owner, informed me that they have been contacted in the past by Edmonton Bylaw officials, and that I should direct my concerns to them, instead; it quickly became clear that not only were they aware of the conditions, they also had no interest in hearing from a consumer, who was acting in good faith. Ashley preceded to accuse me of having little to no information. I reiterated that I was trying to share concerns I had that were based on the health and wellness of the animals that they intend to sell. Ill note that aside from shivering literally shivering, it was heartbreaking... this poor little guy just trembling DIRECTLY UNDER the blasting Air Conditioning on a rainy day, they were also fed directly out of Friska's Tins. No dish. Besides the fact there is zero nutritional value for these kittens in a can of adult crap Friska's, it also displays a clear level of disregard for the care and commitment to animal welfare.. Are we to believe those cans are cleaned before being fed to these little guys? Ashley informed me that these "are the standard put forth by Edmonton Bylaw, and therefore, she cannot hear my concerns".
