Buyer beware: ALWAYS inventory your groceries when doing pickup before the person leaves your vehicle.nnWe have been loyal shoppers at Food Basics in town since we moved here. Had nothing but good things to say. Used their grocery pickup for the first time today, as my family and I have been sick, and wanted to avoid going in the store. The woman who brought out my order was pleasant, though she said she forgot my receipt, which I hindsight may have been a red flag. Got home and went to unload my groceries and noticed several items missing.nWhen I called the store, I was immediately responded to with an accusatory tone. Went back to the store, and they flat out called me a liar and were not interested in discussing further until I mentioned their security cameras. Eventually a manager named Cam came out and was very pleasant, listened and went to figure out what was going on. Ultimately, after reviewing camera footage, he determined that I was not, in fact, lying and apologized, and fixed the situation.nTo Cam, thank you. To the rest, maybe a little customer service refresher may be in line. I get it, dealing with people all day can be tough; you don't know where people are coming from whether truthfully or dishonestly, but to be in an industry where it's literally part of the job to deal with people, maybe a little compassion, or at least empathy. To be honest, in all my time shopping here, it's the first time I've had an unpleasant interaction, but man, it left a lasting impression.
I understand the holiday rush and busy times. Had an issue with my bank card cashing out. The money was there but card wouldn’t work. I had that embarrassing moment as was to deal with. What I didn’t need was the cashier treat me like I was an idiot. Even scoffed and eye rolled to the clients standing waiting to cash their groceries out behind me . Leaving me to feel even more humiliated. The issue was not their machines but it also wasn’t mine either as card worked fine 5 minutes prior to entering that store. Even inserting the card wouldn’t work. She kept telling me not to touch the chip part of the bank card. I’m not 2 . Insulting and clearly a miserable morning for this lady who is in customer service. Do better. Ya just lost a shopper as I’ll spend my money else where even if I pay higher prices to get respectful service and not made to be embarrassed as hell in front of others in public.
Debbie who works here is the most rudest lady you will ever meet. I’ve ran into her multiple times at the self check out and she is unbelievable rude every single time. She says stuff under her breath while being disrespectful towards you, treats you like garbage and throws her hands in the air all mad when you ask questions like she’s not there to help you. nobody who acts like her should be working there it’s absolutely ridiculous she ruins your day in two seconds. everyday is a bad day to her, this is multiple times now and i’ve talked to other people who shop here and they say the same thing about her!! will not be coming here again if the owners are hiring such disgraceful people like her.
Finding staff to help search for items is relatively easy and the checkout staff are top notch. Especially JoJonThe store is usually well stocked with what I'm looking for so I can do one stop shopping. My favourite grocery store by far.
No issues in the store or with the productivity of staff. However, I find it absurd that employees smoke right outside the exit. Usually at places I worked, employees smoke at the back of the building.nnI use the food basics pharmacy to pick up my puffers that I pay for out of pocket, and get to break them in real quick because I have to walk through the collective cigarette smoke of 4-5 employees. It's even more unpleasant when the wind funnels it into the exit. Thought this is a grocery store, not a bar.
