DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE! FIND THE BOOK FOR YOUR CLASSES ELSEWHERE! Story below: My order was placed on 8/20/19 and I used 2nd day business shipping, hoping and expecting my book to be at my house before the start of school. Before placing my order, I checked a box stating "Yes! Switch the unavailable textbook condition for the available condition even if it affects my total." box just so i know i would get the book on time. When i called the bookstore, the representative who didn't give me his name was rude and said "he could not do anything nor refund my card for the shipping unless i brought the card physically to the book store." I work 9-7 every day and i live at least a half hour away from Gateway, hence why i purchased my book online, and there is physically no way to get to the bookstore on time for the refund. What if this happened to someone who was going to Gateway from New York or even further? Would they still make them come down physically for a refund? I work at a place where we give credits on cards and the customers do not have to bring the actual card down for it. Besides that, If i ordered something on Tuesday 8/20/19 and it "shipped from a location that 'had what i wanted'" on Friday, with the two business days it should be at my house the latest Tuesday 8/27, which would have been okay so i can finish the assignment that night. But now, since it is coming on Wednesday 8/28, i will be getting a zero on my first assignment in this class because the bookstore did not ship out a used copy of the book when i clearly checked the box to change the condition of the book prior to checking out. Never will be ordering from this bookstore ever again
I am not the type of person who enjoys giving negative feedback. I always attempt to look at the positive.But from applying, to getting books, and actually starting at this school. Is not only nerve racking but strenuous.I have been misinformed from start to finish. An as far as accommodating for all...That is a huge negative. I found myself being the one having to be flexible. From start to finish. The fact that students could not get books until August 13, 2018. When classes start aug 28,2018 in addition to having inconvenient hours regarding the bookstore and incorrect information via phone and site, Is an anxiety attack waiting to happen for new students ,working individuals anyone. Nice looking school, but can definitely improve, especially when giving information. Word of advice, GO IN PERSON, an even then you still might have to call, go back an recheck. So far this has been a stressful process.Praying for better when actually starting.
If you go early enough before your semester you are pretty much gauranteed to get your book, however, dealing with the manager and some of the full time employees can be iffy. Eventually I've always gotten whatever task needed done, whether a simple purchase, a purchase with financial aid, ordering a book that was not in stock, or gathering information. However, sometimes the full-time staff, such as the manager, can treat you with an attitude as if you're doing something wrong even when it turns out you've done things properly. But like I said they don't seem to let their attitude get in the way of the outcome fortunately. However, many times you can find textbooks dramatically cheaper in other places, even Barnes & Nobles, which isn't known for being cheap. If you're not going through financial aid, I would definitely compare pricing and shop around.
I always rented my textbooks online but this semester i decided to get it straight from the book store. First time being in the bookstore, the staff at the cashier were distracted and on their phones, chatting. As i could not find the books i was looking for, i asked a staff member where she then proceeded to look annoyed that i was asking for help, the more questions i asked, the more annoyed she looked. Not sure how the staff is chosen, but they need much more friendlier and helpful staff.
Terrible in multiple ways. I ordered an Ebook that said it would be emailed to me, it wasn't. The code was shipped to the school, I tried to pick the book up but the bookstore ended up being closed. Went back and the code was received on Monday but the mailroom was closed so they couldn't it to me, this was Thursday mind you. I canceled my order, lets see if I actually get a refund.
Worst college book store ever! I have a four year degree and have taken several extra college courses to further my career. This bookstore is the worst. I have never experienced such a disaster before. My job pays for everything as a third party. I submitted all of the paperwork. The bookstore only had to call to verify if there were any questions. The college is great and was able to process everything right away. The book store on the other hand has had my paperwork, but never set up the account now weeks after when they said it would only take a day. They had all of the books required for my classes when I first started this process and now they are all out of stock. Should have just bought them online in the beginning! Prices are cheaper online even when you get the books the next day. Save yourself the headache, buy your books online.
I ordered a rented Blair Reader for Composition the first week of school, and it wasn't delivered to my house until a month and a half later with no explanation, email or otherwise. There were assignments already due that I needed the book for, so I had to go to the library and work off of pictures I took of the passages. As annoying as it seems to not have a physical copy of the book to have as your own, do yourself a favor and order the books online because the staff is rude. Even during transactions for something as simple as a $5 lanyard.
This is easily the worst store I have ever been to. The staff are rude, have no idea what they are doing, and clearly don't care. The store itself is a complete mess, with few signs and no clear walk-walk. I would never have bought a thing here if I had any choice in the matter, but since I had to use financial aid, I had no choice but to deal with a staff whose idea of professional conduct does not stand up to even modest scrutiny. I worked retail for over two years and I would have been fired if I acted like the workers in this store. Don't waste your time here if you have another option.
Often understaffed and the lady at the register was very short with customers and had no customer service personality. The workers obviously hate their jobs and don't want you to interrupt their day with questions or requests for help. Last semester, I prepaid for a book that ended up not being in stock until more than half the semester was over.
