Stopped here for lunch in May 2022. The staff were very friendly, fun, and informative about other things we could do while we were in the area. There were so many interior decor details that gave it a lot of charm. The food was great. The seafood chowder. Yum. The apple crisp was really good too. And they played a lot of Eagles songs in the background which is always great for setting a fun and chill mood.
We were so pleased to have found this gem of a pub in Chester. On our visit and walking around the waterfront saw this and after learning it was the oldest pub in Nova Scotia we had to check it out! The layout is amazing great views, a very vegan/vegetarian friendly menu! We were please with both our dishes and loved the ambiance! 10/10 would come back because of the history and great experience!
We stopped in for a late lunch on our way home from camping with three children. The lady who greeted us at the door was friendly but quite obviously did not want us to eat inside. We were taken to the “patio”, which is a very small, completely enclosed space behind the bar which she assured us was perfect for a group like us. There was another family eating there, and offered nothing to look at. I did not want to stay out there so we went back inside. The food was good, although nothing special, and our waitress was efficient. I doubt we will go back as it did not seem family friendly at all.
It is a local restaurant where you can feel the warm atmosphere of a quiet town. The dishes were served faster enough and the food per se was great. The one thing I didn't enjoy was that we were kept interrupted by server while we were eating. She tried to take the plate several times even though there was food left, I felt so rushed to finish the meal. I would have understood if the restaurant was full, but we were the only guests around. Assuming that she may not want us to stay over 30 minutes for some reason. I would visit another place when I go to Chester next time.
4 of us ended up at the this tavern for supper....it was packed solid but we were able to sit at the bar. This place is awesome! The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is friendly, polite, and everyone working there seems to be part of a family. Everyone worked extremely well together. I spoke at length to the Manager, who not only cares about the staff, but didn't hesitate to help everyone out where needed. It was obvious to me that it felt like a close knit group. Highly recommend this place!
Food was freaking amazing....love this place..we stopped here after our visit to tancook island... atmosphere was awesome.. waitress we had Courtney was awesome friendly and approachable... ordered and food was right there with in minutes...extra hot ..so very delicious...each dish ordered was so flavorful... highly recommend this spot while in Chester.
We were greeted at the door, the lady was very nice. The service was great. I had the seafood chowder and it was delicious. Best seafood chowder I've had in a restaurant in a while. I would definitely go back for the seafood chowder. The house dark beer was also very good. I'm very happy to live so close to it and will definitely go back.
I would like to give a sincere thank you to Beverley and her staff for an absolute wonderful birthday dinner. We threw it together at the last minute for 24 people. Every meal was thoroughly enjoyed. They were able to feed us all, with very little waiting time. And the cake was so special and beautiful!! Thank you all very much!
A lovely dinner to end the day at a quaint old Irish pub. Haddock stuffed with scallops, crab and shrimp for two of us, pan fried haddock and fish and chips joined with a delightful cab. Delicious!
The food was good but I felt the portions for the price were a tad small except for the fish and chips. Honestly, it's not tourist season and the prices or portions should reflect that. The calamari should be double the size for the price or throw in some more crisp lettuce to dip in the sauce to make up for the lack of calamari and the pad Thai should be bigger as more noodles won't bankrupt you. Just a bit more to make us full and I'd be raving about this place to everyone I know since the taste of the good was pretty good.
