Really enjoyed this museum. Spent a couple of hours visiting it. Great displays that are interesting and informative. Very friendly staff. Be sure to read all the 'fun fact' reads that they have throughout the 3 floors. Learned a lot from them. This is definitely the best thing to see and do in Lunenburg.
Fabulous museum where you could spend the day. Bluenose exhibit was excellent with historical facts most people wouldn't know about. Highly recommend.
Visit on December 6, 2025 by appointment. Informative and engaging museum. Displays appropriate for children and adults. Co-located with the Fish Factory restaurant. Nearby parking available. Our large group made use of the theatre for presentations. At the time of visit, the main floor washrooms were unavailable due to repairs.
Spent a Saturday afternoon here with a few friends a couple weeks ago and honestly had no idea how cool this place would be. The restored schooner docked right outside is stunning up close, you can actually walk on board and it immediately sets the tone for everything inside. The exhibits on the fishing industry and the history of Lunenburg are genuinely fascinating, not the dry museum stuff you might expect, and we ended up staying way longer than planned. Definitely worth the trip if you're anywhere near the South Shore, we're already talking about coming back in the summer.
what a fun little museum!! nnthe staff are very friendly and happy to answer questions - I myself joined a small group of children being led through the history of the bluenose.nnive heard there used to be an aquarium on the main floor, now there are only a handful of fish left. i understand why this is the case, and there are still plenty of things to see :nnMiss Bluenose II was out sailing while we were visiting but we got to see her as we arrived. what a beautiful boat!nndefinitely worth visiting!!
